It's definitely going to be a big deal, even if it wasn't before now that they have all of the Fox stuff too? Sheesh

I think the consumer is going to be the most fucked when the shows/films you like to watch are split over several streaming services. Might as well go back to buying Blu-Rays.

This

The whole reason people flocked to streaming services I The first place was convenience and cost vs cable

With a bunch of different streaming services to get the content you want that goes away... Im sure it will lead to the rise of piracy again

Doesn't Disney own Hulu now with the fox deal?

Yeah. This deal includes Fox's shares of Hulu and they are the majority shareholder for it.

Netflix has been #1 in streaming for too long. If nothing else, Disney may very well buy them in a few years and completely monopolize the entire streaming industry as we know it.

If the Fox deal goes through, Disney would have controlling share of Hulu. The plan is to put all the Fox and adult stuff on Hulu and have the family stuff on the Disney platform.

Depending on how hard Comcast fights them, Hulu will either be fully Disney's or likely fail because Comcast alone doesn't have the library to prop it up.

Apparently, Netflix wont be fucked at all. Youd think that since Disney owns everything under the damn sun then theyd create the streaming platform to end all other streaming platforms. But nope. Theyve already fucked it up. Having more money than God doesnt mean you know what the fuck youre doing. It looks like theyre going to keep Hulu and the Disney streaming service will be entirely family oriented. Which is cool but thats hardly going to cut into Netflixs every-show-has-to-have-nudity philosophy.

Hulu IS the ultimate streaming service. They combine older programming with current programming (most of which is completely commercial free) AND Live TV.

Not at all is my guess. Netflix has been focusing on their originals for years now, they're probably going to be relieved when the money spent licensing the streaming of Disney stuff is freed up for other purposes.

I just don't see how Disney's own streaming service would appeal to anyone. I'd imagine most Disney fanatics already own all the movies, and people who are neutral or only like some Disney media aren't going to subscribe to a dedicated service. My wife is a huge fan of Disney, almost obsessed with it, and she can't even see the use case for a dedicated streaming service.

Netflix's biggest competitors are Facebook and YouTube. Disney got a ways to go to be on top. Not saying they can't but it's gonna be a long road with a lot of bumps.

I'd day-one a warts-and-all Disney streaming, with all the WW2 propaganda films and all the racist-in-hindsight stuff, as well as uncensored versions.

If you can't sit through a 15-30-second commercial when the show starts you must have a seriously short attention span.
