I played the shit out of Dead by Daylight last summer. Has it changed at all since then? Worth reinstalling?

actually you can go into customize and set your spawn preference
if you pick your spawn preference as counselor you will never be jason (this wasnt the case before it was changed)

Oh, I just figured it raised chances for one side. I selected Jason as my spawn preference and still barely get him. I figured you'd just get Jason even less instead of just not getting him as Counselor.

The core gameplay is the same, but a bit more has been added. We got Huntress, who can throw hatchets at survivors. Leatherface who can instant down multiple survivors, assuming they were grouped up. Freddy Krueger who has to pull survivors into the dream world to attack them. And Amanda Young who can crouch and sneak around with no terror radius and place Reverse Bear Traps on the survivors heads.

The Devs are also planning a whole rework on the Rank System. It was recently on the public test server. It will dramatically change how you rank. Instead of tying it to kills or bloodpoints, it will change it to how you played. Rewarding you for playing different styles of play. We don't have a date on it yet, it still needed tweaks after the tests. But it should be a nice change.

All in all, hell yeah. I'd say it's worth a reinstall.

the guy who was tunneling me really should have used part 4 jason because tunneling is basically what he is geared for
honestly in the grand scheme of things he is the second worst jason
but if you want to tunnel someone he is the best one

Can you give me a run down on the different Jason's? I've been using Part 7 Jason, he seems good at finding people but bad at catching them.

part 7 is the weakest jason
best looking and best movie in the franchise. but worst jason in the game

the problem is that his weakness in traps and shift make it very hard for him to protect the map
he cant defend the objectives very well and once the car starts he struggles to catch it.
water speed isnt a very useful strength since any jason can catch the boat just by morphing to the exit.
and since the boat starts silently its just a crapshoot if jason will even realize its gone in time to stop it.

part 4 has the same weaknesses and the same problems. but since he can run and destroy doors quickly he has a niche of tunneling players going after 1 person and not letting up until they die
he cant protect the objectives very well but once he sets his sights on someone even a vanessa player is at risk.

part 5 is pretty well rounded. his strengths are good and his weaknesses arent an issue.
pretty good for beginners

part 3 is really good at slashing which is a gameplay style most people hate. but if you want to be a slasher jason this is the jason to be.

part 2 is the very best at map control
all his extra traps means its very hard for a counselor to get an objective fixed. his morph recovers so fast you can use it as a second shift once you get the hang of it. but while he is good at protecting the objectives he is very bad at actually stopping them
so if they get the car started you probably wont be able to stop them because of his weak shift. plus a light breeze can stun him so you get used to getting knocked down
but thanks to the map control this is a good jason to take your time and kill everyone slowly. trap the objectives then destroy the power boxes.

part 6 is has more knives and longer attack range than other jasons so he is good at damaging the players.

part 8 is really good.

savini jason is the best one

That's sad. Part 7's Aesthetics are so good. And he's the only one using a Machete.

How can Jason be this powerless. The last game I played I was at the counselors mercy. Can't catch them, stun after stun, all they did was run around and t bag and using dances while I'm stunned, circle me and take turns stunning with their weapons, laughing their asses off. The Killer shouldn't be this powerless.

whiners.
jason used to be an unstoppable beast who even a new player could use to kill all 7 counselors plus tommy easily.
back then escaping was an actual achievement because you actually had to earn it in a gameplay system that gave jason all the advantages.
then they started weakening jason over time and giving more and more buffs to the players
just be thankful you started now after the last update which actually nerfed the counselors by lowering the number of pocket knives and weapons on each map.

another issue is that the game has been out for over a year now and the playerbase has learned how to play so jason is less threatening now because people know the tricks to evade him for a fair amount of time.

personally its why i dont play in private matches because an organized group dominates the game
i stick to quick play where the difficulty can drastically increase if im the only player who is actually doing anything with a room full of people who treat it like a drawer opening simulator
ignoring objectives in favor of opening all the drawers.

Just like, a coordinated team just stomps Jason. Jason shouldn't be this easy to push around. The Killer needs to be a strong and terrifying force.

In other news, just went up against Savini Jason. The fiddle music that plays with him is fantastic.

Died after doing all the car work. Came back as Tommy. Ran straight to the four seat car and left everyone behind. I feel accomplished.

Well, my time with the game is now up, the game is due back. It's an alright game and I was a little harsh on it before. It has it's fair share of issues, but not as bad as I thought. However, I don't plan on buying it anytime soon. A well coordinated group of counselors can bully Jason for pretty much the whole match. And I still don't like not being able to select killer. And the spectating after death. I could live with having to play both roles, but how easy it is to bully Jason and being forced to Spectate the whole game after death or escaping just push it over for me. However, I wouldn't be opposed to renting it again in the future after more content or balancing is fixed.

Now it does do some things great. The game visually is beautiful. Jason's variety of kill moves are beautiful to watch. The survivors have multiple ways to escape, the maps are big, in the right situations, you can have a really slow and tense game.

For example, I was hiding in and barricading a cabin. Power goes out and I hear the Jason music. I put a bear trap by the door for when he breaks in and I wait. The screen does the static thing and the music stops. I thought he left me, only to turn around and see Jason coming down the Hallway at me. Scared the shit out of me.

All in all though, I gotta stick with Dead for Daylight for the time being. It has its fair share of issues, but its issues aren't as big as Friday's issues.
