CE has been pretty decisive in declaring that the police officer who stayed outside during the shooting was a coward.

And that Donald Trump is a liar and if he was there, he would not have rushed into the building.

But what does CE think about themselves. If YOU were there, outside the building and YOU knew a shooter was inside and killing kids, would YOU have rushed in and confronted him? Or would YOU have stayed out of it?

I would try to at least do something

If I was inside a classroom, I'd like to believe I would grab a fire extinguisher and hide next to the door in case he enters. I'm not sure that I'd charge him if he walked past, but I definitely wouldn't confront him face to face. If I had a gun outside the building like the cop I'd like to think I would go in because my training would have prepared me for this.

Running in weaponless though is just asking to be made another statistic. It's not heroics. It's stupidity.

The only way I would confront the shooter is if it's the only option. Like if I'm hiding in a classroom and he busts into said classroom, sure, I might jump up and try to rush him because the alternative is dying huddled in a corner. But there's no way I would risk my life unnecessarily.

Assuming I'm just some civilian, no. Not really because of fear for my own safety (even though that would be a factor), but mainly because I'm not sure exactly what I would be doing to help.

If I was armed and that was the job I had signed up for, then I hope I would go in. Otherwise, no. I'm not too proud to say that I'm not the kind of person who would run in to face someone with a gun.

The thing is, if you were organized with a group of people and setting up a guaranteed way to subjugate him, maybe. But that's difficult to do in these types of situation. Thinking that you can overpower a guy with a gun with no gun is idiocy

Nope, if I'm in the building I'm getting out or barricading myself somewhere. Fighting is last resort. If I'm outside, I'm certainly not going into a place with an active shooter.

really it comes down to two outcomes... you either go and end up being respected for your heroic actions by stopping the shooter or you die and are remembered as a hero.

either way you're still a hero, better than dying in a puddle of piss with dementia in old age.

Yes, but I believe I would have no regard for my life in that situation. I'm not suicidal or anything normally, but in that situation I truly feel like I wouldn't give a fuck and, well, might as well go out trying to do some good.

I am a regular human with no training, rather not die. The thing I would do is call 911 and get people who should have the training to help.

If I had a gun, for sure. It might not be an ar-15 but I'm pretty good with a regular handgun that I'm confident I can hit center mass from a good distance.

If I had a rifle, that'd be easy. If I had something I had to get up close and personal with, maybe not, too much chance for him to turn around and catch me before I could do anything.
