They had the power to annihilate all life in Amestris with a transmutation circle, they could do the same to the ants. With Pitou having been born, they might have trouble if they tried to directly fight the ants, and if Pitou is allowed to stray far from the hive, I'm not sure any of them could survive a fight with it, or hide from its senses. Though I imagine they'd avoid the conflict directly, and simply hide, allowing the ants' slaughter of humans until prepared to transmute the country.

i thought they need Father for that.

if there are no interference on the mass transmutation circle, homunculi takes this fight. remember that the reason Father was lost is because Hohenheim sabotaged the transmutation so the souls absorbed by Father are leaking away.
