For me, it would be either Roseanne or Dexter. Hopefully the new Roseanne retcons the entire ending.

Haven't seen Dexter so I can't comment.

I'll go with Star Trek: Voyager. Sure they deal a crippling blow to the Borg and get back home, but then what? All we see is the ship get escorted to Earth. What happened next?

I don't count Dexter because the second half of the show was bad anyway. Same with how I met your mother. Smallville for me though.

Knew there would be people saying this but the finale wasn't really that bad. I mean, honestly it's the best they could've done with the direction they took the show. The finale itself wasn't bad, the entire direction of season 4 onward was the problem.

Nah it was terrible. It was about the mysteries. Having them all go to heaven was a lame copout for a feel good ending.

That's completely oversimplifying it. But then most people who hate the Lost finale didn't understand it. People seriously thought they were dead the whole time.

And what part did I not understand? Did they not go to heaven or some sort of afterlife that's essentially heaven?
Were the mysteries not initially what drew people in?

I never understood why people hated the Seinfeld finale. What did you want to happen? What would have made you happy with it? If the characters had all their dreams come true and everyone went away happy it would have been totally out of character for the show. Instead, what we got was 4 awful people getting their comeuppance in a funny way. It was a fine, and totally fitting, finale.

tbh it doesn't sound like it would have been any better

No, it's still crap. But at least it would have made a bit more sense. Now that we have actual quotes from the writers that they were just making shit up just to be weird, there was clearly no hope for the show. It's not like they withheld answers, there just straight up were no answers.

Dang, not sure how I missed that. I thought I had read everything there was about the show. Disappointing.

You already know what happens next, that's the beauty of time travel. You know what happens TWENTY YEARS after the season finale. The whole point of Voyager was getting back to the Alpha Quadrant, and Voyager easily has the best season finale of any Star Trek series. It's not a clip show, it's not revising written out characters, it's not a pat on the back for the writers. It's freaking intense, it ends on a high note and it's extremely memorable. They spent seven years trying to get back home, and from the time they come out of the Borg transwarp conduit in the Alpha Quadrant to the credits rolling is just over two minutes.

Stargate Atlantis.

Mainly cuz it was cancelled, but the 2nd-to-last episode would've been a better finale than the actual finale was.

Lost: The thing I hate about Lost was that it set up Jacob and Smokey to be Good vs. Evil, but really Jacob was just as bad. He orchestrated events to lead people to the island and then created situations that got them killed.

And Smokey was an asshole, but largely because of what Jacob and their mother did to them. He just wanted to leave the island, and they turned him into a literal monster.

Honestly everyone would have been better off if that island sunk to the bottom of the ocean.

TNG and DS9 didn't have clip show finales, pats on the back, or revised characters. If anything, Voyager had the fucked up characters since it suddenly and without warning puts Chakotay and Seven in a relationship which had never been hinted at before. I will say it kept Janeway true to form though. She unilaterally decided to go back in time to change things because she personally wasn't happy about things.

TNG and DS9 also had events that led up to the finale (to the point where DS9's last ten episodes or so were pretty much just one long episode) and Voyager, in true Voyager fashion, pulled some stuff out of its ass.

All this talk about Star Trek and not a single mention of ENT.

VOY's finale might not be great, but it still doesn't hold a candle to ENT's clusterfuck.

So agreed.

I don't recall if I even stuck around for the finale but lost just stacked mystery on mystery and had me believing it had explanations.... Except at some point it became painfully obvious they had a lot of good at ideas for intrigue and about 1/10th as many ideas for actual conclusions / resolutions.
