In an interesting move, for the first time ever Saban will be going backwards through the Sentai line-up for their next series to premier in 2019.



Power Rangers: Beast Morphers is being adapted from 2012's Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters.



Set in the future, a secret agency combines a newly discovered substance called Morph-X with animal DNA to create the Power Rangers Beast Morphers team. The Rangers must fight off an evil sentient computer virus bent on taking over the source of all Ranger power, the Morphing Grid itself.

In addition is was announced at Toyfair that Saban signed a new 3-year deal with Nickelodeon through to 2021. There is speculation this deal will result in Power Rangers going back to a single season format, dropping the "Super" season we've seen since Saban's return with Samurai. This will be the first series where the toys are produced by Hasbro.

Saw this earlier today, I can't believe they went back to Go-Busters. Can I ask that they won't drag a season out over two years this time, or that it's written competently for a children's show?

the reason they drag it out is because of nick. They only want 20 episode seasons, that's why we have a super season right after the original. Ala Super Samurai, Super Megaforce, Super Dinocharge, etc. So pretty much they can't do what you're asking, it's sad. Although the other part about writing competently has been better in Dino Charge, it took a somewhat small step back in Ninja Steel tho.

Bandai America had a part too, with their wishes for the toylines. If not for that, they could just do one twenty-episode season for each show, which could even work out if planned well. Since them suddenly jumping back to 2012 lines up with the shift from Bandai to Hasbro, I imagine they might be alright with just focusing on a team for one year.

Plus Nick's extended contract is a bit odd, going for three years versus the usual even number. Either BM is being stretched out to three seasons, or we're going back to just one per team.

Beast Morphers would be the one show where I wouldn't mind they said "It's Morphin Time!" because it's used in the source footage. But for the past 5 seasons I've found it annoying, literally every season from samurai until now used that phrase to cash in on MMPR

Well here's everything up to RPM.

MMPR - Rita and her crew are freed from a dumpster on the moon. She vows to destroy the nearest planet.

Zeo - The Machine Empire comes to Earth. They attack Rita and Zedd, forcing them to flee.

Turbo - After the Power Rangers foil Divatox's plans she comes to Earth to retaliate.

--- The powers are considered destroyed at this point.

in Space - Dark Specter orders Astronema to track the Red Ranger which leads to her attacking Earth. Meanwhile all evil forces are taking over planets throughout the galaxy.

Lost Galaxy - Scorpius' forces attack the people of Mirinoi to obtain the Quasar Sabers. Staff members from Earth colony Terra Venture, and a mechanic help a Mirinoi native, releasing the sabers and becoming Power Rangers. Terra Venture becomes a target. (the only series not set on Earth)

Lightspeed Rescue - A tomb is opened releasing Diabolico and his demon forces. Captain Mitchell of Lightspeed Rescue in Mariner Bay, CA sends his "Men in Black" to recruit four particular people with special skills. they along with Mitchell's daughter are given the "first" Earth made morphers to counter Diabolico.

Time Force - A mutant named Ransik kills the Red Ranger of the year 3000 and escapes in a time ship to 2001. The 4 Time Force personnel assigned to guard Ransik follow him back and using DNA coded morphers recruit the Red Ranger's ancestor to unlock their powers.

Wild Force - Cole Evans comes to America where he meets up with new Power Rangers led by Princess Shayla of the Animarium (a giant floating island shaped like a turtle......what). He becomes the Red Ranger and helps the others fight the forces of Master Org.

--- All Zordon era powers are considered restored by this point.

Ninja Storm - A former ninja master named Lothor attacks the Wind Ninja Academy capturing all but 3 students and turning their sensei into a guinea pig. They are given the wind morphers to fight back and protect the nearby Blue Bay Harbor.

Dino Thunder - Tommy Oliver, now a paleontology professor in Reefside, CA watches over 3 students in detention. They discover the dino gems and become Power Rangers to battle the forces of Mesogog who plans to destroy all human life and bring back the dinosaurs.

SPD - In 2025 the Troobian Empire attacks Earth and the Power Rangers are seemingly defeated and vanish. SPD commander Anubis "Doggie" Cruger teams a couple of fugitives together with his second string to create B-Squad who are given morphers.

Mystic Force - An army of monsters led by Morticon are freed when an earthquake cracks a magic seal keeping them confined. 5 teens from the city of Briarwood are given magical powers by the sorceress Udonna.

Operation Overdrive - Explorer Andrew Hartford finds the Corona Aurora releasing Moltor and Flurious. Hartford alters the DNA of 5 adventurers to become Power Rangers.....

Jungle Fury - A Kung Fu clan called the Pai Zhua - The Order of the Claw assigns 3 new members to guard the sealed Dai Shi. One of the Order named Jarrod was excluded from this and releases the evil, becomes possessed and kills their master. They are tested by their new master who runs Jungle Karma Pizza, and are given their powers.

RPM - Set in an alternate reality a computer program named Venjix has created robotic soldiers and taken over Earth with the exception of one domed city on America's east coast. A scientist known as Dr. K assigns Ranger powers to members of this city of Corinth to fight back.

Yeah, I remember everything up to Lost Galaxy in full and then watching bits and pieces of Lightspeed Rescue and Time Force.

But it doesn't explain why other rangers don't just take care of everything, especially when I remember every new season having the previous rangers return after Turbo and the fact that there was some Red Ranger special where every Red Ranger returned.

So basically these dudes still have their ranger powers, and aside from those in different galaxies and timelines, what the fuck are the other 200-300 rangers doing?

The Quaser Sabers were placed back after Scorpius' forces were destroyed yet can be obtained at any time. I think the Ninja Storm powers were destroyed. Lightspeed took their morphers back. Wes and Eric are still with the Silver Guardians protecting their city.

The continuity is all over the place with who made these powers and some are technological, some are magic, some are man-made. Others have been around for decades prior to Rita's release and the whole thing began. It gets messy with Zordon and others with what they've been doing for all these years.

I guess that and what previous posters said makes sense. Something like the MCU, explaining why the Avengers aren't taking care of every threat.

With the lack of Sentai footage, it makes even more sense, but I figured there'd be more variety in rangers working together to protect the Earth. The disjointedness feel honestly seems like a copout lol.

Yeah like you look at Mega Force and Gosei who has been sealed away by Zordon many years ago to assign powers when evil has returned. Yet Gosei has been dormant for all these years while evil forces have been popping up all over the place. Or is he meant to only awaken when evil appears near the city he's adjacent to?

Taking Transformers as an example. Following the end of the original 80s cartoon in America it continued with a split continuity in Japan. One of the follow up series was Masterforce which led us to believe a few Autobots had been living in Japan for centuries guarding some sealed up demon Decepticons. So why didn't they help the Optimus, Rodimus and everyone else over the last few years? No story and no animation to coincide. Bad continuity link.

For Power Rangers we do at least get team ups from time to time with the current rangers teaming with the ones from the previous series. Sometimes we get a single ranger from different series coming together to join the main team of the season (See Operation Overdrive), and then the big Super Mega Force team up. Tommy explains they're all there waiting and watching, but the new teams usually have the issue under control and don't need the help of everyone. That team up being the first exception.

ive seen some super sentai clips on youtube with the pirate themed one showing up many times

they end up helping the other ranger team but the original intent always to steal something they have

so they often start by fighting agaisnt them

did something like that happen with the power ranger version?

They were never acknowledged as pirates. Megaforce and Supermegaforce didn't have much of a story.

It was Gosei (their Zordon) giving them a new toy each episode without much context. Just a bunch of action scenes jammed together. And then a widely advertised final showdown that lasted maybe a minute.

It was. Add on the fact that it's an anniversary season which could have easily turned out decent given the footage,and yea it's a whole lot worse.

IIRC, Linkara actually considers it second worst after Operation Overdrive.

Yea a few good points, mostly with the bad writing and goof story. I never finished the series, but saw some of it and I'll say it's better than megaforce, there's an attempt to form a story and attempt at acting out scenes.

Linkara may or may not be a huge factor as to why I also personally think Overdrive is by far the worst fucking season of PR ever.

But just watching it myself, I found it so soulless somehow. It sometimes felt like they were doing interesting things but also somehow found a way to make it as least interesting as possible

Trying their hand are RPM? Their storytelling will need to improve a hell of a lot since only season 1 of Dino Charge has really been good since they got the rights back.

it was a season that was paying homage to power rangers rather than super sentai
the henshin phrase is "its morphing time"

so its a very american like super sentai that didnt go over well in japan but it had some really cool fight scenes.
