Just got a second pair - red and blue instead of the grey ones with my launch unit. When the L Red one snaps in, it shows a red "whoosh" and same for blue. What a weird thing to program.

I didn't know that but it's kind of cool, though. And if they ever create some highly sought after limited edition ones it could reduce the number of counterfeits.

I mean, it's a pretty easy thing to do overall. The console basically just needs to be able to read model numbers.

I have a pair of reds, blues, yellows, and greens. Love the joy cons.

(The green ones were a pain in the ass cuz I had to buy both the Japanese SKU and the American SKU, then sell the two leftover pinks)

It's little things like these that makes us love Nintendo products. The little sounds and music when you open the console and stuff. Makes you forget you gon die one day.

Yeah, it's pretty neat.

This also goes back to the N64, where Banjo-Tooie could tell the color of the N64 controller that was plugged into the system.
