Youre not an athlete for playing a video game. Sorry, but its the way it goes.

This is just another act of forced inclusion.

I agree with you, but just curious how you label Chess? Is Chess a sport, or an intellectual competition? Where would you classify this event? Is it more along the lines of trivia?

I literally have no idea, it's a genuine question. I don't know what Chess is considered.

I think chess is not a sport, but as a long-honored game shared across the world, I believe it should be welcome.

If Poker can be a sport on ESPN so can video games. Also Golf does not take much if any athleticism

No. Thats the attitude that opens the floodgates. Neither of them should be allowed. ESPN started showing card games because our generation is actually more entertained by that than we are traditional sports.

While it requires less athleticism, I would never call Golf anything but a sport.

I don't consider Poker a sport, i'd put it in the same category as Chess. Both require thought and intellect.

Video games are not a sport, and eSports is a bad name for professional competitive video gaming.

Why not EGaming?

I never saw the necessity to add "sport" to it at all. Call it what it is.

ESPN is literally Entertainment and Sports. It's in the name. Cards and pro-gaming fall under the E.

I guess it was called that because some people think "sport" means anything that can be played competitively.

Video games are a sport, and not everyone who plays a sport professionally is an athlete.
