It's sad because people have lost their humanity. Nobody has ever argued that telling someone you're praying for them will magically make the problems go away. It's about human compassion, to know there are people out there thinking of you after a disaster can help someone to cope.

We do have a gun problem in America. But let's not make a mockery of those who are offering their compassion.

People don't have an issue with people praying for victims. People have an issue with those in power that only offer empty platitudes like that rather than attempting to do something to prevent the next dozen shootings this year.

If that was the only thing he did and said, you'd have a point. Except he repeatedly tried to get congress to pass gun control legislation and he also signed executive orders on the subject to try to do what he could without congressional approval.

The difference being that he actually did try to do something about gun violence. The thoughts and prayers crowd say that like, then when you try to talk about what we should do they say now is not the time. Then another tragedy comes and it's the same thing over and over again, and nothing gets done.

Nice of you to ignore the part where I mentioned that he signed executive orders on the matter. And he still made attempts to try to get gun control legislation passed, why spend a huge amount of time and political capital on the matter when he knew full well that the GOP obstructionists were just going to block everything on it? Nice try.

Right, because if a bill doesn't pass on the first try then you gotta give up. Can't try again or anything.

So then who are you mad at, exactly? Apparently the president doesn't have enough power. No individual member of Congress has enough power. No one to be mad at then. You're just mad at nobody.

So, you're either trolling or literally weren't paying attention to the entirety of the Obama years? The GOP spent all eight years trying to block everything that Obama ever proposed regardless of everything, and in spite of that he still made multiple moves to try to push the GOP to make a move on it and signed executive orders to try to combat it. So, he did try repeatedly.

And the fault is wholly on congressional GOP for not ever making a move on the matter and for just accepting NRA donations on the subject despite very widespread approval for at least marginal gun control legislation. There clearly is a side at fault here, and even if you think that some Democrat proposals suck it's on the GOP side for refusing to ever take action on anything related to it.

GOP tried to block lots of things and yet he still got Obamacare pushed through. It's easy to point fingers and blame others after putting in half effort. Working for some sort of bipartisan solution is a little harder. Pay attention and stop seeing everything in terms of black and white.
