As a result, we have generations of men who suppress their feelings and the only way they can process them is by getting angry and aggressive and violent. Many of these shooters had histories of violence, particularly against women. Maybe not anything that got criminally charged, but plenty of "parents called the cops after they attacked their mother" types of things in the last 3 years of school shooters backgrounds. Treating mental illness and not stigmatizing them, those who have them or those who get treated will help. That said, the only feasible reason for a restriction on mentally ill people isn't to prevent mass shootings, it is to prevent suicides.
