In the exceptionally small selection of X1X-tailored games, it looks incredible. The problem is that anything not specifically tailored to the system (for example, Battlefield 1) will run with the same presets as the original Xbox One - and the irony there is that X1 rarely has native 1080p games. Buying a $499 console and getting sub-1080p performance on basically every game released before November 2017 is just insane.

The PS4 Pro, conversely, benefits from its predecessor's tendency to have 1080p games - so even if there's no resolution boost, you do get improved frame rates at full HD. Pro is not even really powerful enough for native 4K, and yet on the whole, most games will look as good as X1X by virtue of its predecessor not being so underpowered.

I don't know what the hell Microsoft was thinking with the X1X. It's completely neutered by the requirement for all X1X games to be X1 compatible. It's also neutered by the PS4 being a much larger fanbase and therefore being the reference console for development. There's no excuse for all these recent multiplatform titles looking and running almost identically on the PS4 and X1X. AC Origins was advertised as being "definitive" on X1X but was nearly indistinguishable from the PS4 Pro version. It shouldn't be a contest. But what incentive does a developer have to really tailor their game to the X1X? The owner base is so small, and simply hitting parity with PS4 Pro is still considered a large upgrade over the X1, which almost always had the worst-running versions of multiplatform titles.
