Why would anyone want to attend E3, ever? Unless it's for work it sounds awful.

Honestly this. Nowadays you'll learn everything that happens at E3 from the internet

Imagine not being a journalist and buying tickets to E3...all that money to stand in line for 5 hours just to play demos for a combined 45 seconds....seems fun.

I mean that's still a better line-to-fun ratio than Six Flags

I went last year. It was still a very clearly industry oriented event. Hopefully as time goes on they add more and more for the consumer.

They are addressing some things that were some major complaints raised by attendees. Namely, the industry folks got swamped so they're being let in a little early this time. Gamers don't get to show up until 2 PM on the first day which is both a blessing and a curse.

They're also segregating some industry shit that gamers won't care about so there will be more room for more things for gamers to do.

I'm gonna lol so hard when the public whines that all the free swag+merchandise is taken by industry members during the private opening hours. Public gamers are lucky they even get to go. Adding 15,000 people last year who have no influence in the industry was a disaster: crowds and lines were significantly worse, colleagues in the industry were constantly pestered by fanboys, and at the end, all these public gamers just complained how they "spent $250 on a ticket and just sat in line for hours".

E3 is a private industry event and it should really stay that way. People who want to celebrate gaming should go to PAX. People who want to make games or be recruited into the industry should go to GDC

it was bad last year. Lots of industry people were mad that the public got in and the public was mad that there was long lines, they set their expectations high and were let down. There was also lots of empty space on the floor since EA wasn't there and had another venue in hollywood.

the Bethesda event before E3 was way better than E3 itself.

I went last year too. It was fun, and I'm glad because I've wanted to go to an E3 for half my life...but I'd never go again unless I have a game there.

There is literally no way that will happen.

It took Nintendo all day to run out of SMO swag and they had like an entire freight worth.

They had a ton of Cappy visors but shirts were limited to the first 400 attendees per day. Hearing that the public has to wait longer to get in is great news for me.

Yup. The Destiny shirts were gone in a flash too. I remember when a staffer brought out a fresh box of the SMB3 themed tote-bags and all those public-badged gamers rushed at it in a stampede. It will be nice not having to stress

Another sad story: a public-badge was cosplaying as deadpool and was having a hard time navigating through the crowds while people were groaning at him and giving him weird looks. I felt some pity for him; he was not at the right convention.
