I can't really put them to use without getting in trouble or dying in an awesome explosion. I may just spring for a new pickup when I get a new vehicle. Something big and comfortable.

Sounds like you're slowing down in general, becoming more safe. In 2 years you'll be driving a minivan. Nothing against minivan drivers, of course.

people laughed at me when I sold my Evo 8 and started ricing out and wasting money on doing a Mazda 2 but tbh I am having way more fun with my mazda.

more fun to try drive and make a slow car as fast as possible than driving a fast car slow.

Trayvon said ricing out. Mention this if he complains about racism in the future.

It's not about practicality, daddeh, it's all about the performance.

What's the point in performance unless you can actually use it? All it will get me is speeding tickets. And I'm not slamming people for buying those cars. I was thinking about getting a 392 or Hellcat but it got me thinking about what the point even is.

Just because a car CAN go insanely fast doesn't mean you have to or ever really should.

If you like the car and can afford it, that's enough reason to get it.

Yeah but I won't use that performance. It will just go to waste.

Never understood why some would want a 500hp or more car.

Our roads aren't designed for that and the speed limit is like 85 max on most highways and the such.

You'd get your ass handed to you if you're caught doing 150 + down the streets.

If you're speeding, they'll give chase. If you're going THAT fast, they don't even try because they know they'll never catch up.

There's literally no point to buying muscle cars. They're not fast, comparatively to a vehicle that's modified at all. You just pay for the way that one looks. Also, not to mention that going 100mph anywhere in the United States is just morally irresponsible (especially anywhere other than an interstate) because you have no way of knowing if someone will pop out on you and you risk damage to their lives/property and your own.

If you like going fast, the best option is probably putting money into an actual racing car and joining a local league.

In NC they now use Chargers and Challengers.

Though I know they are told not to give chase after too long or when they hit residential areas.

If they're on the side and you zip past them at that speed, they have to go from not moving to being able to be on your ass. If that person is going 150 or so, how fast do you have to be be going to actually catch up to them in any reasonable amount of time?

I do, at least once. Fastest so far was my GSXR @185 mph. That shit was crazy, felt like I was going to get ripped off the bike from the wind.

Edit: holy shit, there's a guy here who's username is 185

Once knew a guy who had a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 rigged with nitro intake.

Thing had pretty good pick up out of nowhere.

It's not speed I care about - it's acceleration.

Going 30-70 is much more entertaining than cruising at 100.

It's the smiles per gallon. And who says people with fast cars just want to go 100+ mph on the street? Um...track day?

It's like asking why people build crazy powerful computers that seem like they were built from the future. They like to tinker with them. As gear heads our habit is similar, just way more expensive.

There's not much comparable to driving a built RX7 with a 4-rotor engine swap. The sound of the engine at idle and high revs is enough to make the hair on my neck stand up. And yes, it's stupid fast.
