Just wondering how it went - cube concepts, how much money you invested into them (if you didn't strictly use cards you already own), etc. I have a big enough collection that I could make at least 2-3 cubes at 360 cards each without buying more cards. Some concepts I want to try are:
1. 5 color Kamigawa-based Spirits: Kamigawa was one of the most active points for me so I have a ton of spirit-centric stuff, plus the odd spirit from other sets. 2. All artifacts: Kamigawa was big for me, and Mirrodin was bigger. I'd aim for a few different strategies, with extra artifacts which would work with any of them. 3. 5-color irritation: More of a joke than anything - all five colors, with each section being focused on one of the most frustrating mechanics that color specializes in. Land hate for red, hand destruction for black, countering for blue, etc. (I know there's a proper Magic: the Gathering board, but it's dead as shit.) --- This is LinksLiege's signature. Is Cubes a new format? It's basically the booster draft concept (get random cards, make a deck with what you get) only, instead of boosters, you're drawing from a set of cards you put together yourself. --- This is LinksLiege's signature. It is fantastic. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Sounds interesting - I haven't played Type 2 in a longgggg time, but drafts were always fun since your choices were limited for you

I have friends with cubes that have the Power 9 in them. It's a cool experience. With Cube, don't be afraid to proxy. That's what Chinese counterfeits are best for: making a sweet, powered cube without having to turn tricks to pay for it. People like to do Pauper (all Commons) and Peasant (Commons and uncommon) if they're proxy averse. I have a friend who built a Commander Cube, which lets you draft EDH decks. It works well with a smaller group of people like 4 because we'll just play a single 4 player game with the decks. He had separate packs for Legendary Creatures and lands at the beginning and end so we could start out with an idea around the general or fall back into another one if the deck didn't come together.

I've got a dozen or so designed in excel, but have never had the money to build one.
some of the more interesting ideas: all hybrid mana cards (needs another set or two to get to 360. was filled in with cards that have other choices.) all black cards all CMC 2 cards and, my favorite, and the one I'm most likely to actually build soon: Exactly one card of each mana cost and color identity (that exist in full cycles) so, only one card that costs say, 2W, 2U, 2B, 2R, 2G. and nothing affecting their CI. There can also be a cycle at that mana cost with devoid. And a cycle at 1WW, etc. and another at 1W, etc. without the CI rule, it's a little small, that's why I thought to add that distinction. with it, I think it's ~450 with only modern legal cards and a few cycles of dual lands. --- Boom! Peasant the one that does exist (sometimes) at my local is Modern Peasant. is fun, if a little imbalanced. RW is damn good if not intentionally neutered. --- Boom!
