Current Events > I started playing FFX for the first time in probably 15 years

After playing FF VII-IX last year.

And I gotta say.. I remember one of the reasons I didn't like this game. It's way too much like a movie with interactive elements rather than a video game with cut scenes. Way too many scenes. I just wanna play and fight some monsters and grind while I watch some TV or something and advance the story when I want. Not every step into the next screen activates a cut screen.

That said, I'm still enjoying it, and I think I'll enjoy it overall more than my first playthrough many years ago. I think I was harsher on it back then due to personal reasons, but I think I'll enjoy it more this go around (already enjoying it despite the aforementioned gripe I have).

Never played X-2, but I have the PS4 remaster of both so I'm going to give it a shot at some point.

The linearity is another thing I'm noticing/remembering from my first playthrough and I remember that being a small gripe too.

I don't think FFX has that many more cutscenes than like FFVII or IX

I mean the record speed runs for FFVIII Are longer than FFX

I mean look at games like Deus Ex or System Shock 2 that are excellent.

It seems par the course for a FF game. Maybe more of it is shuffled towards the front end than others though. All the main story pretty much happens up to when you get caught up at the intro campfire. Then the post game opens up and its all straight RPGing.

What does that mean? Mascot is new to me

Its one of the Job Classes. It was in the original, just really hard to get. I think thats the one you need to see every % of the game or some shit

Both those games have strong action elements. You're hurting your own case. You expect a turn based RPG to have the same balance as an action RPG. Play Pokemon bruh cause that's what you're looking for.

Right before you leave Midgar, you, Tifa, and Barret raid Shinra to get Aerith back. You can either take the main entrance, or be sneaky. If you're sneaky, you take the stairs and it's a really funny scene through and through, but the one part that really just hit me upside the head was a short exchange between Tifa and Barret.

Barret: "Marlene, daddy wanted to see your face one more time..."
Tifa: "Would you stop acting like a ****** and climb?!"

It was barely funny when the game came out. The whole reason it's hilarious now is because of stupid PC culture.

Most of the public doesn't realize that getting mad makes offensive humor a shitload funnier.
