Come now, surely not all forms of modern psychoanalysis is utter bullshit? What about cognitive behavioral therapy?

Psychoanalysis is the term for Freudian psych, which Peterson is a big fan of.

If you have issues working with women, the issue is with you. Literally billions of men and women work together without incident

Definitely though I think his point is that there are certainly those who cannot. And if so (I could be wrong), what are the effects

If they can't handle working around women wearing makeup, they need to find jobs that only staff men. The idea that women need not wear lipstick and heels in the office is absurd. This isn't on ladies to fix.

Just don't sexually harass people. How fucking hard is that?

I think the point is not whether it happens or not, the point is that if it happens, it is mens' responsibility not to sexually harass women at work regardless of the sort of makeup or footwear they have.

They can work together, but don't fool yourself into thinking your wife won't get hit on at work by someone. That's life, now whether you can trust her is another story.

Is there something you want to share with us?

There are entire disciplines of university devoted to that very question. It is weird to bring up in a topic about a man who thinks that gender segregation is inevitable due to men's inability to control their lust.

Oh if you have some studies on it I'd be interested to see. I'm sure there are a ton of great perspectives on why. What I don't like is reductionist thinking that just says "it's the patriarchy / power games" without considering the complexity of such issues

Not sure why it's weird to bring up in this topic

I don't personally, but I'm sure a nearby university offers a number of gender studies courses on that very subject. You could probably take a few sociology courses, too. Hell, the books alone could probably fill a library.

Anyway, I don't think I ever said 'It's just the patriarchy/power games', nor did anyone else. Which is why I find it weird. We are talking about Peterson's views, and you say "I agree he is wrong, but it's more important to look at why it's a problem". It's a weird distinction and it makes it feel like you are a Peterson apologist. I'm not saying that is the way it is, I'm just saying it's an awkward distinction if you agree.

Hmm I don't agree with him that women wearing make up at the workplace constitutes a problem, but I also could be wrong and I'm interested in hearing all arguments to get to the truth.

And I'm a big fan of Peterson for sure.

I'm not sure where anyone here said otherwise. Just because I argue against an argument I think is wrong, doesn't mean I don't hear it and weigh its value. Again, it just seems like a bit of purposeful provocation.

We all want to hear all sides, and no one is persecuting him or anyone else by disagreeing.

Okay. Just pointing out, for future reference, that randomly interjecting defenses against arguments no one is making is a weird way to carry on a conversation.

Well there's Bill Nye's "Sex Junk" episode where he argues that gender is on a spectrum. He actually goes beyond the binary which is critical in justifying things like gender neutral pronouns.

More fundamentally, in the countries where they're trying to get using the wrong pronoun listed as a hate crime, you need to prove "material harm" to justify its status as a crime and they suicide rate in the LGBT[A-Z]* community is used as evidence that words cause physical harm, and so intentionally using the wrong pronoun is tantamount to assault.

I don't think you understand the request. Your first example is someone giving scientific evidence for transgenderism. The second is about misgendering, which is distinctly different than "We should refer to everyone by gender neutral pronouns".

We're comparing this to someone trying to claim that Mendelian inheritance shows we should clean our room.

Since youre such an amazing intellect maybe you should debate Jordan Peterson and see how it goes

On the topic of "is the relationship between men and women deteriorating in the workplace," yes i'd readily have that debate.

He didn't take a position of yes or no, so what are you going to debate? whether or not the question should even be proposed?
