But after finding out it's an integral part of the Hawaiin cuisine, I felt like I needed to give them a try.

So I bought a small can...I guess I should fry them and make a sandwich of it?

Pairs well with eggs, but a sandwich can work. It can be a bit salty though.

Just go to a McDonald's if you're in Hawaii. Or even any Times Market hot food section.

It's really not that bad, enough sodium to hurt your blood pressure, but prepared well it can be good.

A local BBQ place by me actually sells deep smoked Spam, he leaves it on the smoker for 20 hours and it's pretty damn tasty. I will eat it on very rare occasion because it's obesity in a can, but in strict moderation it's pretty good.

Fried spam, eggs, and rice.

Or a rectangular block of rice, with a slice of fried spam on top, wrapped in roasted (not fried) seaweed. Aka, a spam musubi.

Those are the usual ways to eat it here.

That sounds pretty good tbh.

Where do you live?

In Hawai'i.

We don't really do spam sandwiches here (that I know of anyways).

McDonald's does a breakfast platter with scrambled eggs, rice, and either Portuguese sausage, spam, or both.

That's interesting, I didn't realize rice was part of a Hawaiian breakfast food either. I'm uncultured I guess.

Thinly sliced spam, lightly fried (little to no oil in the pan because it's already greasy enough).

Back home I used to pair it with a fried egg and some plain porridge

Spam's alright but I don't eat it much because it's incredibly salty. I think it's good if mixed with rice though.
