he has a disease that is slowly paralyzing him and it's hard to take care of him. and last month my parents went to hawaii while my sister started a new job so for couple days I went to the house and took care of him in the middle of the day. but it's alot of work and they still have to deal with him the rest of the time themselves. and next month my parents leave again (for Israel). I could go to the house again but it wouldn't solve that much unless I stayed there all day. and my sister still has to care for him in the evening and it's tough on her so it doesn't make much sense. but it still makes me a feel a little guilty. he was never my dog, they got him after I moved out. and I have tried not to be too attached to him. though he is nice. I'm trying to not be sad but a little bit of sadness is creeping on the edges of my mind. I just hate it when pets die. its so depressing.

dont' get a boxer. every boxer has a like 50% chance of this disease. it's fucked up. we had 2 boxers and they both got this same disease.

Reading the title I thought you meant like an actual human professional boxer

Sorry to hear that, having pets leave/die is so heartbreaking.

yea. and in our family at least, I swear it seems to always happen in the winter

anyway, they are going to do it in the house so he doesn't have to go to the vet. I'm not gonna be there. he about 2 weeks left. I might go home sometime in the next 2 weeks just to see him one more time. but that's it. I'm trying not to dwell on it too much. he's not even my pet. But I did travel with him up through canada this summer and spent alot of time with him

Zik, if you keep telling me not to get one, I keep wanting one more. I am sorry about your parents boxers. But boxers need love, too. Just because they have a chance at getting the desease, I feel like i should get one to give it lots of love...

well one thing you can do is try to pressure boxer breeders to test their boxers before they breed. you can find out if the parents have the disease before they even breed. but breeders don't do it cause then they are supposed to not breed. if they did this, it would actually drive the disease into extinction. its a simple solution but requires people to not be greedy. it's fucked up that they allow the disease to persist and it pisses me off.
