Yeah, I actually have experience with this. I used to do some pretty extreme exercise every day while staying depressed.

Though I can only guess how bad my depression would be if I didn't exercise. It's not going to fix your depression, but being a potato certainly makes it worse.

Runners high has been physiologically proven; vigorous exercise will release dopamine in your brain. But thats not gonna cure depression. It does provide a temporary positive feeling, and theres obviously the positive feelings you get from just being very healthy and looking hot but thats more of a long term thing.

it's not just exercise alone. exercise is a part of it. other things that will help your depression are:

a better diet. get some vitamins in that shit. eat greens and more fruit (not just a banana a day or whatever most people take the easy way with and that doesn't really help much). eat less sugar and greasy crap

sunlight. open your damn blinds when you're home and try to get like at least half an hour of direct exposure when you can. walk to your mailbox or whatever instead of driving for 2 min. the extra exercise is good too

healthy social interaction is underrated as well. I mean in person, not just online. cause talking to another person in person affects our brain chemistry as well. it has to be positive interaction tho. I don't mean step out of your house and get bullied for an hour

I know it sounds like self help bullshit but it honestly does work unless you've got a severe case of depression. but I don't think you do, since you actually go out and exercise

most supplements are shit. it's almost always better to get it directly

I also can't understate that if you're serious about it at all, you need to pull yourself out of the rut. if you stay in your comfort zone you're never going to get better. it sounds counter intuitive, but things like comfort food or immersing yourself in something to get away from your depression are going to keep things as they are instead of helping you improve

It's comforting.

The main goal is to be happy and comfortable so it's important to have escapes from reality.

Doing things outside of comfort zone will never work. Plus get you sadder.

I'd rather eat fast food than greens

No one says exercising cures depression. It's a biological fact that exercising increases endorphins, which causes positive feelings. It's supposed to be a short-term high basically.

And having ways to escape isn't a bad thing but if that's literally all you do, you will never get better and probably just make yourself feel worse in the long-term
