People act like he was trying to create division when all he did was give a matter of fact statement that, if he'd had a son, his son might have been like Trayvon. It's no different from any other parent saying "that could've been my child" in lieu of tragedy befalling someone young.

@A_Good_Boy

What race are you and where are you from (or at least give me the region or racial demographics).

I'm just curious what parts of the country you think humanizing black people is upsetting to people. Also you're stereotyping people based on what region they live in, way to be prejudiced.

How so? That could have been anyone's son. Imagine your kid is walking home at night and some dude starts being aggressive. What happens? Kid getting killed is one of those scenarios and it could have been Obama's son.

Case closed.

Yeah. I wasnt a fan of his presidency and he can actually be a total douche when he feels like it, but dude has charisma, a sense of humor and all indicators are he is a good father too.

I highly doubt Obama's son would be the type taking pics of himself holding guns and getting into physical confrontations and getting defensive over people walking the same direction as him, calling cracker and having a girlfriend that looks, let associate with girls that act like this

c136Mz5

Obama's sons would be typical privileged upper class kids.

heck Obama wouldn't even let his kids around a more ghetto part of town or even go to public school.

so no he couldn't have been anything like his son

Because Obama was a well to do man who wouldn't raise a child like that.

Nor would he have ever had a child in that sort of environment.

And on top of that, if Trayvon was his kid he would have had secret service protection.

There is no way Trayvon would have ever been his son.

As someone else said, what happened to Trayvon could have never happened to him if he was Obamas son because he would have had major secret service protection. It's another example of Obama trying to act like he is like everyone else when he most definitely wasn't.

But the real reason people were pissed was because it fucked up jury selection.

are you referring to me asking him what part of the country he is from and what race he is to make that assumption?

Because I live in the South, live from Huntsville, AL to Memphis, TN, and not everyone is like that. You get people in rural areas sure, but educated, good people don't dehumanize black people based on the color of their skin. That is very offensive to some very good educators and such that I know very well as well as me.

I've been in ghettos that you couldn't even imagine being in for work, grew up with black people and a lot of the black people working in those schools are great people, as well as the white people.

what Obama meant was that there's often a suspicion cast on young black males, and that suspicion led to a bunch of terrible decision-making that escalated to Zimmerman being beaten and Trayvon killed

like, from Obama's experience, worldview, whatever, black people aren't given as much of a benefit of a doubt in relation of others, and that could possibly lead to negative outcomes

because it's avoiding the issue not confronting and resolving it

colorblindness seeks to absolve certain people their history of wrongdoing and effect on other races

instead of having to face the cold reality that yes they did things yes its still affects them and us

its not something to be avoided, it should be celebrated

If a neighborhood has had recent burglaries and you see someone walking through people's lawns at night, wearing a hoodie---someone you don't recognize and you're prominent in the neighborhood---would that raise suspicion to you? Race doesn't really matter with those circumstances alone.
