I find it bewildering that the American left has suddenly denied the existence of the deep state since Trump took office, as though the deep state didn't murder Martin, Malcolm, and Fred.

Anyone that poses a great enough threat to the system's desired status quo and/or entrenched interests is a potential target of the deep state, though its tactics seem to be a little less blatant these days.

So they conducted these polls January 28 - 30. Interesting to see them now after the release of the memo, which essentially confirmed the "Deep State" were conspiring to overthrow Trump.

"Deep State" is kind of an ambiguous term. You can read as much or as little as you want into it. To me it refers to a relatively small contingent of powerful enough Clinton loyalists in the FBI and DOJ who pushed the fake bought and paid for Russia conspiracy.

I think at this point the establishment media is more of a threat than the "Deep State". Around the clock they're disseminating either outright lies or propaganda to the American people. And they know if they have to *quietly* issue retractions over and over it doesn't matter, the damage is already done. Legions of hysterical Democrats continue believing the tin-foil hat Russia conspiracy. They'll probably go on believing it even if the Mueller investigation closes and Trump serves two terms with no impeachment.

In their zeal to control the conservative narrative Fox News and talk radio has become kind of a psy-op for the gullible ones that eat that shit up. Russia's main goal is to disturb western democracy and Fox News is apparently unwittingly helping them do just that.

There's a real segment of the US population that increasingly seems to crave an authoritarian figure. Trump is a joke (and thankfully an idiot) but I fear he is laying the path for a real strongman to come behind because his base has proven time and time again they can be easily manipulated to have whatever opinion desired.

It's up to the sane Republican lawmakers, Dems, and voters to turn this ship around before it becomes even worse. This is unacceptable.
