When police do fucked up stuff a lot, the public loses more respect for them and fear them more. The police knowing the public is more afraid then makes the police more on edge and reactionary. Both sides jump to violence when they both just want to make it home at the end of the day. It leads to big problems on both sides.

You would think decent police would screw these guys to the wall and be very public about it all so the police can maintain some decency and respect between them and the public.

That said I just called their sheriff non-emergency number and asked why they did it in a stupid demeaning tone and she pretended it was an emergency number and that she was gonna GET ME!

And when the trust is gone completely and vigilantism comes in full swing, they'll know why. I just hate that when people DO take it into their own hands, it's often cops who weren't even involved that end up on the receiving end of the retaliation.

When I was 13 i was home without any parents. One evening an officer knocked on the door and asked if we had any cats that may be outside. He made me go outside and identify the cat. He then made me clean up the hot, limp, bloody body. Cat had blood trickling from its mouth and an eye and brain matter coming out of the socket. I've seen a lot of dead animals now and this is rougher than most. It's clear that whoever hit this animal did so at a fairly high speed.

There's young me sobbing and horrified and this officer won't let me leave until I've scraped the cat he killed off of the road. He won't let me go get help or anything extra. I don't have gloves. He handed me a flimsy trash bag and I managed to get most of the cat in there. He had the audacity to lecture me about cats going in the street. I asked if he saw how it happened. HE RAN THE CAT OVER AND MADE A CHILD CLEAN UP HIS MESS. Buddy pay attention to the fucking road and ask the wizard for a heart

That's my traumatizing law enforcement pet experience.

That behavior isn't ok, however, vets have to handle this kind of sample collecting for rabies and no civilian should ever be forced to cut off their dog's head. Especially when trained professionals are the only people that should be doing it at all
