One of those issues that makes you go, "wait, how the hell was this ever an issue?" The notion that rapists ever had parental rights of any kind is mind-blowing.

I doubt they intended to give rapists these rights. I imagine when writing parental rights laws, they just didn't bother thinking about rapists.

Sure, but that's the thing that the negative unintended side effect pops up once and that should be enough to freak every legislator out to fix it immediately.
