I'd like to hear some serious takes from those on the left. Do you feel that since these celebrities have the peoples' attention, it's their responsibility to speak about important issues?

Not a responsibility to speak about issues but it is their responsibility to be educated on the issues if they're going to. A lot of annoyance comes when they speak out and use their platform to spread ignorant misinformation.

I don't care about award shows in the 1st place. Whether they're political or not doesn't really matter to me. If a celebrity wants to speak out on a political issue, it's their right to do so regardless of where they are on the political spectrum.

Awards shows have always been political, certain folks are just getting more sensitive.

Btw I find that these certain people who complain about "everything is too political" usually don't mind when their politics are on display, they just dislike when the opposing sides politics are on display

Case in point: those people complaining about lefty politics at say an awards show, yet lapping up whatever conservative flavor of the week is on YT

How much more political could they get without actually becoming the DNC? If you just hear some of the speeches from both without context, it's hard to even tell which one was said at which event.

I feel like a majority of people complaining about things becoming too political are people who are just learning how political things have always been.

I do. Without the political part Award Shows are really boring. With the political part they are only quite boring. It's an improvement.

This as well, basically

Certainly fits in with those people being mostly young dorky guys who've never really been politically aware before.

I understand award shows have always been political, but they seem to be more so since Trump. Celebrities hate him even more than they hated GWB.

Nah, there is a difference. Political messages prior to 2016 were about things like global warming or genocide in Rwanda. Political messages now are bitching about Trump and pushing the identity politics horseshit that the Democrats stupidly embraced to their own peril in the last election.
