I was just about to post in this topic because this dog have the weirdest howl. She's in my room in her cage and it doesn't even sound like a dog, it sounds like a dying old guy letting out a haunting wail. It's keeping me awake.

Huskies are cute, but way too high-energy for me.

I had a dog, once. It brought a ball, and dropped it at my feet. I told the dog "I'd be more impressed if you got a job." So the dog went out and got a job, he has a recurring role on a local soap opera. He's bringing home more bitches than I ever have. I asked him if I could borrow some money, and he chased me out of the house. Point is, familiarity breeds contempt. Don't let your dog get too uppity.

i own a half-boxer, half-husky.

many wolf instincts are not bred out of them so they lack the innate desire to please humans that makes training more domesticated breeds so easy. this gives them a reputation for being stubborn (in reality, they just are more food motivated and less love motivated, so you have to clicker-train or use similar techniques).

they are very, very, very high energy and require high amounts of exercise (as in 5+ miles/day. i recommend getting a bike when the dog is fully grown and leash trained)

they have maximum prey drive. as i mentioned, wolf instincts not fully removed. they see small animals, they kill small animals.

they have significant aggression with same-gender dogs. it's widely understood by trainers not to try to keep multiple arctic dogs of the same gender in the same household. can be in a two-dog household with an opposite-gender, different breed dog (that's what we do in my house) but generally speaking they are a pretty domineering kind of animal that does not like to be 'put in their place'.

fences are a joke. mine's the worst with this, because as a boxer she has ultra-powerful hind legs and can jump a 10' privacy fence. i let her out on a steel cable and replace the cable every 3 months, because she has snapped it.

i highly recommend obedience classes ASAP. start 'em young.

it does payoff if thing's are done right.
i really enjoyed training and caring for the dog in it's early years despite it's mange problem (at the time i thought it was a food allergy).
