Which of these two do you think society looks down upon more than the other?

Let's say, a 25-year-old man dating a woman over 50, versus a man over 50 dating a 25-year-old woman.

Feels to me that everyone assumes the older person is a predator in situations like this, no matter which way round.

Shame, really, usually people who do stuff like this are the most open minded people you could hope to meet.

...usually.

Usually it seems like the men are always taking the brunt of the criticism.

If he's older, he's predatory. If he's younger, he's desperate.

Its much more socially acceptable for a man to date younger than the other way around. Guys who date younger are seen as successful. Women who date younger are seen as desperate.

If the girl is outright underage, then older man dating younger woman seems more looked down on (when compared to an older woman dating an underage man).

If not, usually, it's the older woman / younger man that's more looked down on.

Yeah, I guess I agree that a dude dating younger is generally more looked down upon, but the bigger the age gap is, the more people will look down on it, regardless of if the man is the older or younger one.

I'm totally in love with a 19 year old coworker of mine, and I'm 27. She's very flirtatious and definitely likes me too but she doesn't want a relationship with me unfortunately. People give me a lot of shit for it but who cares? She's fucking amazing

Unless they reach 25. Let it be a 30 years old male dating a 19 years old and see how people react to that. Even CE thinks that sick.

People would think its sick for a 30 year old woman to be dating a 19 year old guy too.

My husband is 13 years older than me and the only people who have ever given me side-eye have been older ladies. I was 25 when we started dating and I looked younger too, some people actually confused him for my dad. Most of my friends married 8-11 years older too. No one bats an eye at that. But when its the opposite, people start gossiping about how desperate the woman is and how the younger dude will leave her in a couple of years when he finds someone younger to date.

Remember all the backlash from Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher?
