You do it by getting the monsters as low as possible and then hit them with your biggest move, right? Is it worth it to try to Overkill as many bosses as I can?

For example I got the first boss encounter with Yuna and got it down really low, and then used her Summon's OD and got an Overkill for more AP

Is it worth it to try and do this every time?

The game is easy except for one boss. Excluding optional bosses. You don't need to worry about it.

It doesn't have to be the biggest move you have, it just needs to kill them while being over a certain amount of damage. It's different for each enemy I think.

Also, I think it might net you more/better items along with more exp but I'm not certain.

No.

It doesn't matter how much HP the enemy has. The only thing that matter is how much damage the attack did.

EG a boss might take 3,000 damage to overkill. Doesn't matter if he had 2 HP or 3,490 HP. If you did an attack that did 4000 damage, it would be overkill.

Overkill increases EXP and Doubles whatever item the boss drops.

For some bosses is this is helpful but it's never really that important.

I'd say try to end with an Aeon overdrive, especially if you got Valefore's Energy Blast early on. But you're missing literally nothing if you fail to do this

It has literally nothing to do with the remaning HP.

All enemies in the game have a preset amount of damage you need to do to get Overkill.

Id say its definitely worth it. At least try to shoot for it with bosses as they often drop some good stuff with an overkill, thats not even including the extra AP gained.

Overkill is actually only achieved by just hitting an enemy above their overkill damage threshold.
Their remaining HP has nothing to do with it.
So if they have, say, an overkill threshold of 400, it doesn't matter if their remaining HP is 1 or 399, as long as you kill them with 400 damage or above, it counts as overkill.

Regular enemies drop double the amount of the item, so 2 Power Spheres instead of 1, and offer better chances of getting equipment with a somewhat related ability to the enemies fought. It's more important with bosses as they often drop rare items you always want more of.

Overkills can usually be achieved early on with Cheer, and later on by making sure you spend some Attack +4 and Magic +4 on relevant people. You don't necessarily need Aeons later, but early on during bosses they more than help.

God damn it, I think I'm missing everything.

I just got off the boat at Luca and tried doing The Jecht Shot, and last time I played I got to try over and over again until it worked. But for some reason, it only gave me one chance this time. I think.

I need to know, is it the only chance I have to learn before the Tournament? Or can I get back on the boat to try and learn it? I swear it gave me a lot of chances to learn it by clicking on the ball, but I couldn't interact with it besides the one time when Yuna watches you, saying she knows what the move is.

You can redo that minigame later on by backtracking, though I would personally suggest trying to pick up the move then, it makes the upcoming match a lot easier.

That's what I thought. I always want to win the tournament, but it's hard without it. I do have a save right before it. I could have sworn I could try it as many times as I wanted before the Tournament, but that must be latter.

You can retry it...eventually. Not before the tournament though. I'd have reloaded.

Tidus' Cheer is really great. All the stat boosters are. They increase stats by up to 5 each, and are permanent for the battle. Make it a lot more likely for you to Overkill, and increase your damage output and decrease damage taken pretty greatly.

Should I give all my Gil to. . .what's his name again? Osaka? Is it better to find items instead of buying and just get him to X Gil, whatever it is, as quickly as possible?

Blitzball was really fun in X an sort of fun in X-2. In X-2 I did like the managerial side of it but then I really missed being able to control the players.

Oh yea, to learn skills one of the most common ways is to copy it off of another player. This is called "techcopying" and it happens when the marked enemy player that you want to learn from activates the skill that you want to learn. Throughout the world you can also recruit new players into your roster so look out for that as well. I remember one named Shaami that I picked up in Luca that was really good offensively.

I have played the game before, so I remember all of that. Thanks, though, lol. I just didn't remember I had to equip it, but I'm not sure if I were to equip it before the match and had to do it during intermission. Either or, I still won the match

IIRC, at high levels, Sphere shot has the highest possible chance of pure shot value. JS 1/2 are 100% consistent though.

At this point they could just package a lot of the mini games together. Blitzball, the Card Games, Chocobo Racing, and whatever else you can think of

Maybe even make a PvP battle where you build teams and fight other teams like their a boss in one of the video games

Depends, since there's also techniques like the status guard which only activates when struck with that debuff type. Plus debuff passes even when nobody is blocking. Golden hands or that super (ultimate?) goalie tech which are more based off the timing of when they're moving to block, but will always fail to be copied if they actually block/ catch it. Or don't, one of them only could be copied by people when the opponent failed at it. :l

Tbh half the time I just let other teams recruit the character I wanted in end future seasons, teach those mid and high tier skills, then recruit them again by using off season practice games that don't even give exp to waste their contracts. IIRC you can even forfeit them, meaning save and reset until they aren't recruited again after it expires.

Can't recruit him until much later lol. Airship locker rooms, and you can't play blitzball for quite awhile before that or until another few events after that, meaning you likely won't even recruit him until much later when you finally gain permanent access to it.

The best advice I can give you is try and get in point blank, make one shot, try and get the ball then pass it to Letty, then to the back row, formation, make the team all go to your side of the field, and toss between everyone for the rest of that half. Using HP for pass techniques gives more exp even if it fails or the half ends during the pass animation. Having two characters right next to each other (Tidus+Letty especially) will save time on animations and guarantee passes succeed. Meaning yay more and more exp, for passing, passing successfully, and catching successfully. I don't remember if being passed to in general gives exp if they try to grab it but fumble. I think they might but any tat are intercepted before then don't count. Neither does picking up the ball if it ends up in their control following a miss.

I think beating the summoner on the first attempt just gives you spheres. Don't think anyAeons are locked unless you're playing International/HD version endgame spoiler
Anima is the only locked one as Dark Shiva, Dark Valefor block items required for her. You can also miss the first Sigil for Tidus Weapon because of Dark Bahamut

I never succeeded once with thunder plains. The trick is to go to a spot that guarantees a strike and then just get down your timing

Okay, I've lost Yuna for a bit and I'm out in the desert fighting some basic mobs, Cactuars, a huge worm and a huge bird. I mostly run into the Worm and the Bird, each take forever to kill. Am I missing something? I hate running away, but it takes like 4-5mins to beat them. They're not hard, just take forever.

I don't think you're missing anything, the worm for sure I remember having a ton of HP. If you have Demi on Lulu it should take a good chunk out of him the first couple of uses.
