People who I assume are gay because of their voice and demeanor end up turning out to be straight.

Unless they have a gay pride shirt on, are talking about their same sex partner, or something like that then it's stupid to think you can accurately tell who is what sexuality

Usually, regardless of how they act in social situations, I'll still assume they're straight. There's a lot of straight guys out there that trigger superficial gaydar readings, so I never make assumptions based on just that. I assume straight until proven not, in those cases.

same as me

i think it's because i don't really judge people in how masculine or feminine they are, as well as taking their sex into account. it's not something i particular care about

Oh, I don't know. It's a combination of mannerisms, demeanor, and how they interact with other women.

But, that doesn't account for all the women that give off zero gay vibes. My wife is like that. I would have never guess if she didn't hit on me first.

See. I do that and they turn out to be straight.

Or being 'polite' and turning me down I guess

yeah kinda

if someone is being vague with who they are dating, or say 'partner' a lot, then i assume they could be non-hetero. but that's only like 10%. there's other things they could do which would make me add on more % and i'd judge in that way

but then i live in a huge liberal city so i know judging like that doesn't always work

I can usually tell with lesbians. Not the way they dress or their hair or anything. I think I've just known enough that I have a sense for it pretty quickly in conversation.

Gay dudes are a mystery though. I can never tell unless they're really loud and proud. In fairness though, a lot of my dude friends who are gay don't act gay. Like the stereotypical stuff. I think most of them wouldn't get pegged as gay by your average person without being directly told.

With lesbians it is a lot more obvious because women have a lot more style choices than men do.

Gay dudes and straight dudes don't groom and dress that differently.

Lesbians have like a million crazy things they can do to signal.

Almost all women that are attempting to attract men are gonna follow the same standard grooming and styling techniques, because those are the things that men like. So if they're not adhering to that standard, they either don't give a shit, or they're a lesbian.

I used to be terrible at this but I've got it down to an art now. I'm much better at reading body language and it's amazing what you can tell about a person from that, whether they realise it or not.

Older transsexuals are the best at reading gay guys imo. They seem to have a 6th sense about it. Its not about masculinity or femininity, just about eye contact and body language signs. They can be covered up pretty well though if youre really conscious of it, at least for a limited time. You shouldnt feel bad if you get asked out as a straight guy though - some of that can just be projection and taking a chance, since its pretty accepted now. Honestly dont even consider it valid to read lesbians considering some of the stuff Ive read about female sexual fluidity.

Idk I've just been told it pretty much my whole life. It's probably just certain mannerisms I have that don't come across over the internet but people notice them in person. But as early as middle school I remember people asking me if I was gay all the time. And in high school I had a lot of female friends and people always thought I was the gay best friend. Even in basic I got asked it a lot and my roommate said he thought I was gay ever since he met me. idk *shrugs*

But man it seems like everyone else knew before I did

there is actually a program or something which detects homosexuals quite accurately especially for males.

kinda obvious in most cases,
tend to have larger noses, dress differently, hand movements, different colors of clothes sometimes, etc,
more likely to be very quiet or very flambouyant.

Artificial intelligence

In 2017, researchers have claimed that an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm could correctly identify sexual orientation in 91% of the tested cases for men and 83% with women, just by reviewing a handful of photos of online dating profiles.[32] In early 2018, other researchers, among which two specialists of AI working at Google (one of the two on face recognition), issued a reportedly contradicting study based on a survey of 8,000 Americans using Amazons Mechanical Turk crowdsourcing platform. The survey yielded many traits helping to discriminate between gay and straight respondents with a series of yes/no questions. These traits had actually less to do with morphology than with grooming, presentation, and lifestyle (makeup, facial hair, glasses, selfie angle, etc.)[33]

thats from wikipedia.
