i think if i keep over $500 they wouldn't do that but fuck it man, i turned down 3 other banks before i found this one because I explicitly wanted no charges no matter how little money i had in my checking account.

and now... my bank is like the rest of other shitty checking account banks. ARRRGH

I would switch to a credit union then. Most dont have fees.

Yeah, banks suck. Mine recently hit me with an overdraft fee for a charge that didn't even go through.

Bank accounts cost about $300 a year for them to be maintained so setting those type of requirements are a way to offset that cost.

And if you can't meet them you can go to a number of other banks or credit unions. Hell Chase and Wells Fargo have similar policies as the one BoA is rolling out.
