Not likely, bitcoin has such a tremendous market share that it literally serves as an indicator, that points to the significance of bitcoin in the crypto market. Furthermore, people in due time will see what a scam majority of the alt coins are and thereby further secure bitcoins market dominance

Long-term it's probably more important that people actually use it. That's not why people buy it now, but I guess that could change eventually.
But also I'd expect some sort of back room dealings to give federal support to an entirely new cryptocurrency down the line and leave the rest out to dry when that happens. Why would they do that?
