The live broadcast just finished and this page is working on updating. The Shape of Water was nominated for Best Picture so I'm excited about that!

Also Get Out which makes sense with the kind of movies they want to nominate, but I've never heard of a horror movie being in the nominations.

Like, seriously I can sit down and enjoy a movie or TV show, or hell, even do something as simple as read an article about something, without seeing "boogeymen" everywhere.

That doesn't seem possible for you though, Addy

All women in the lead cast and female director. Way to show off female empowerment, which is the kind of feel-good narrative the Academy likes.

I was pretty shocked to see Logan on for Adapted Screenplay

Hopefully that wins out.

And obviously Blade Runner 2049 deserves the nod for Best Visual Effects

That movie definitely has an interesting... message. But the Academy has a history of being influenced by current social justice climates, and women have the mantle right now. Lady Bird is the more empowering and modern of the two.

Bestiality advocates will probably need to wait.

I'd rather Lady Bird win than Shape of Water, it was the better of the two films.

Dunkirk was probably my favorite film of the year, but the Academy doesn't tend to like war movies as much (unless it's a criticism of the U.S. government).

I watched The Shape of Water the other night. I expected too much, I guess. I love del Toro's films. I kind of hated this one.

I can't quite explain it, but it was just boring. There was too much filler content that didn't move the plot or something.

It wasn't boring, it was magical. My only complaint is that they ruined her friend.
