Just started a game on Fallout 4 which is alright so far just wish the day time graphics weren't so bright. Forests in the game look amazing though.

It's better than FO3 in many respects, but worse than New Vegas in many respects.

Nostalgia is a hard mistress. It's clearly better than 3, but some people will argue that it's greatly inferior to New Vegas. Personally, New Vegas was great, but Fallout 4 is great in different ways. The best way I can think of it is that for every mistake made in Fallout 4's design, there were 2 improvements.

Edit: I should also note that it's also hard to compare them now since New Vegas is dated as hell nowadays.

I feel the same as this, though I still like all three. The original Fallouts are my favorite, but are completely different games (gameplay wise).

Good game. I enjoyed it more than Fallout 3 but less than New Vegas. They are all good in their own rights in my opinion though so you can't go wrong.

Yeah the daytime lighting is way too bright. If you have access there are mods to alter the lighting to make things look better without sacrificing performance.

i don't get peoples love for new vegas. If they made a game that took place in present day vegas and the surrounding area it would still look the same, a desert wasteland

I've been saying this for years. Before or after, it's still a desert wasteland. I want to see a major city reduced to rubble.

It boils down to whether or not you played and enjoyed Fallout 1 and 2. If you did, you're probably going to like New Vegas because it adheres more closely to the original two games. If your first Fallout experience was Fallout 3, you're probably going to like Fallout 4.

Frankly, the brand needs to split and have a west coast Fallout series and an east coast Fallout series.

It's because it expands on the Fallout 1 and 2 lore.

I think people's love for it is more based on the good faction mechanics, memorable groups like the Legion, and the quality of the story.

Again, though, the game is awfully dated now and I agree that a modern remake would probably be completely panned for being a whole lot of bland desert.

I get kinda triggered when people just brush off the Mojave setting as just an empty wasteland. There are actually a ton of areas to explore in New Vegas. The world is also cohesive and makes more sense in how things work.

Fallout 3 had the epic feel of a vast major city wasteland down but it was also missing a lot of the finer details that brought it all together and felt more like a theme park with random set pieces you could explore each pretty much self-contained.

Better gunplay and graphics + settlement building if you actually enjoy that.

That's it.

It literally did. There's the classic series, the west coast, and the Bethesda series, on the east coast.
