If people are expecting traditional console generations they're gonna have a bad time. Spec-wise the games are closer to the 7th gen then they are to what's coming out right now on PC/high-end consoles. Chronologically though (which as Turbam said, is what counts) it's still the 8th gen, Nintendo has just been double dipping. Technology wise the Switch wasn't possible back then though. If you're considering the Switch a portable, you shouldn't be following the console generation scheme anyway, since the portables have their own hardware timeline. It's a hybrid.
