When people stop telling them how to think and what to feel.

If the said white guys said the offensive statement, are they not entitled to defend and clarify it?

They can, but usually that "defense" involves them doubling down on the douchebaggery by saying some variation of "sensitive snowflake".

Also, why should anyone care about offensiveness? That's your/their problem.

Never. Hell, theres like 5 white people on my Facebook that like to tell black people how to feel about things every day. Shits beyond annoying.

All the years of telling white people they owe yall has really taken its toll. This is what you guys wanted, so as always, be careful what you wish for.

It's good to know the opinion on whether something is offensive or not can only be expressed by minorities.

Interestingly, when white users here have had issues with white privilege generalizations veering into offensive stereotyping, TC has ridiculed them.

I don't even think they're obligated to really care. It's moreso the complete inability to understand why somebody would take offense to something.

Like the best comedians always utilize offensive humor and they KNOW they're being offensive, which is why they typically don't go around arguing with people they may have offended. They let them feel how they want to feel without judgment (usually).

Then you've got guys that are "trying" to be funny saying something offensive, people get offended, and they act like something is wrong with the other guy for taking their offensive comment offensively.

Minorities have dominated the conversation, now that white people are getting back into it, many are engaging from a more clinical and more objective manor. This is why there is such a rift in the conversations leading to these problems. I don't want to get derailed on specifics but this is why many police shoot discussions get so toxic.

People got offended that the Raiders hired Jon Gruden before interviewing a minority candidate they had zero interest in.

Literally shouldn't be offensive.

Per your own example, the offender is trying to be funny, a failed comedian is no reason to cry.
This gets to the root of the issue, intent. If someone isn't intending to hurt your feelings, stop being a fucking snowflake. (And if they are, a little advice, don't give them the satisfaction of success.)

If a white Irish guy has a hissy fit about the Notre Dame Fighting Irish mascot, and you say you think he's being silly, I think it's completely your right to say that.

This idea that opinions can't be expressed on certain general topics because of someone's race is absolutely racist. Your whole argument to excuse that point is based on "you can't understand muh feelings," ignoring that offensiveness is not purely subjective.

So. Listen. He's not saying that it isn't a possibility, but to assume that it's the default is the problem. It engenders a pattern of not listening and feeds the preconceived notion. By assuming that someone is credible before they discredit themselves, you have a limit that is already in place. Your ideations are based on extremes. There's clearly some nuance here. Stop hammering a square peg into a round hole.

Sure you are. You're arguing that a minority can make any outrageous claims at all about what should be considered offensive, and a white person should not be allowed to disagree. And they shouldn't be allowed to disagree purely based on their skin color, regardless of how crazy the minority's claims are.

Let's play this out:

Admiral: "Minority, why are you so outraged about that white person wearing a sombrero on Cinco de Mayo?"

Minority: "It's racist cultural appropriation!!!"

What should be the next steps in this conversation? According to TC, it would be inappropriate of me to disagree. I'm not really seeing the argument for why I need to keep my mouth closed if someone else is being irrational and hysterical, purely because of my skin color.
