A nice cider is much better than the weak rubbish most beers are. Sure, if you are getting a fruity cider some people will make fun of you. But if you get a "traditional" one. A thatchers or old rosie, then they are just being silly.

Well, some of them do seem like apple alcopop but I've always hated the idea of dudes judging other people for what they drink. I mean, come on. We're all just trying to chill, get shitty, etc. Might as well enjoy it.

Definitely. I'd much rather have a good cider than a Bud Light, Miller, etc. Even my homebrew cider is better

Dang. I haven't had too many commercial ones. Strongbow was okay and the ones from my local cidery are great but probably not widely available.

Strongbow is what got me started. I kinda like Redd's stuff but only if it's there. Won't buy it lol. Angry Orchard is okay too.

I make my own cider now with a mix of store bought juice and apples from Central Market lol. My favorite mix is Gala and Honeycrisp. Not traditional but still really tasty.

No. Strongbow is basically the bud/fosters/whatever of ciders. A pile of shit. (But cheap I guess, and can be good in a snakebite. (cider and lager together)

Well, yeah, some beers can compete. But I was speaking more of your standard beer like fosters or carling. Compared to thatchers, old rosie or whatever. They tend to just taste bleh as well tbh is the main issue anyway.

Well, I was a beer snob of sorts prior to discovering cider so I get the frustration. Strongbow was just the first one I had so there's some weird attachment. One of my favorites was (this will probably be an affront to you as well lol) a basque cider. Tasted like hay and vinegar but for some reason I loved it. Bishop Cider Co has something they called scrumpy but a lot of more experienced cider enthusiasts said it wasn't really. I liked it a lot tho.

I make mine bone dry and still, tweak the tannins and acidity but they're still lacking that special mmph that I really want.

Oh, I drank loads of strongbow as a teen, but once I grew up and could actually get my own drinks I moved on (or we kept drinking the stuff we made ourselves)

A proper scrumpy can be great, but very strong. Really, drink what you like and enjoy and fuck the snobs say. I mean, I love the fruity ciders and an enthusiast would probably disown you for that.

Ice with cider is pretty popular during the warmer months. Is up to preference really tbh.

And depends on the occasion. A nice cider is wonderful to sip and enjoy in summer. But cheaper ones are great to just quaff if you want to get drunk.

We can drink anything, but we just shouldn't. Vodka has a low glycemic index and tequila doesn't interfere that much either... I think. Regardless, potato vodka is the most recommended. The problem diabetics have is that alcohol can act like a sugar, but on top of that, you liver produces a hormone, glucagon, that's responsible for raising your blood sugar when it's crashing. If you have alcohol in your system, your liver prioritizes detoxifying your body of it over damn near everything else. It also does other shit to us, but.. I asked my doctor when I diagnosed ~20 years ago. He said we could drink 2/day. Functionally, the same thing as what he would tell anyone else. I do avoid white wine, wine cooler, bitch drinks and so forth as well, but I will drink red wine and stout fucking beers.
