Medical Marijuana is legal in the state but students are prohibited from using it in school or having a school nurse administer it. Ashley's parents, Maureen and Jim filed a lawsuit in federal court against the school and the state of Illinois claiming the state's ban violates Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Judge John Robert Blakey ruled that she could take her medicatio stating "No one's saying she wants to fire up a bong in math class" The 6th grader at Hanover Highlands Elementary School battled leukemia since she was 2 and had extensive chemotherapy. She suffered a remission since 2011 but suffered delibitating seizures everyday because of brain damage from the chemotherapy drug. One of her seizures was so bad that she fell and hit her head and needed brain surgery but only had one since she started using medical marijuana. The drops are a mix of CBD, a marijuana extract that limits seizures and a tiny amount of THC, a psycho-active element of marijuana but the amount is too little to get her daughter high. Her mother said she can now think clearer and she's more alert as she can learn at school finally. Do you support recreational and medical marijuana?
