Do those licks sound juicer?

I haven't really noticed a huge difference with the guitar, but what I have noticed is that the drums are much more audible in the original, which is very nice. Also, I'm pissed off that the lyrics to Five Magics were changed in the remaster to make less sense.

"Bestow upon me knowledge. Wizard, all-knowing, all-wise"
was changed to
"Bestow upon me magic. Wizard, all-knowing, all-wise"

Which is annoying because Dave's intonation makes it kind of sound like he's addressing the wizard as "magic wizard," which is a mistake you'd never make with lyric "knowledge, wizard" (knowledge not being an adjective).

That's because he had to re-sing that whole verse for the remaster, because the original master tapes were damaged. IIRC, that's also why the drum sound changed a smidge, and it's why the lyrics to Rust In Peace... Polaris sound a little different, too.

Something happened wherever the original masters were held by Capitol Records, because RiP isn't the only one this happened to.

The remaster isn't good lol. If the fucked up drums and vocals weren't enough to tell you that, just listen to the bass break in Take No Prisoners. A lot of the guitar leads were rerecorded, for the worse, too. All the other Megadeth remasters have their merits (although personally I don't listen to any of the remasters anymore as a long time fan except KIMB), but RiP is just a mistake. I'm guessing they couldn't *not* do it due to contractual obligations.

With its wide availability (Spotify) it makes me sad how many people hear the remaster as the first and only impression.

KIMB is the only good remaster but These Boots being censored has aggravated me for the better part of a decade. I acquired the original of course but still.

I didn't like the remixes. Give me the originals in their lesser quality any day. A rawer, less produced sound can work well for metal and rock. It's not like they sounded that bad besides the first album.
