One of my favorite books. And Michael Shannon is amazing. I don't get the Michael B Jordan hype tbh but hopefully he's good in this. I didn't see Creed though and I heard he was good in that.

IIRC Bradbury actually despised broadcast television (even PBS was only "okay" in his eyes) and wrote F451 because he believed TV would lead to complacency in terms of society and creative narrative. That's why the wife is portrayed as pathetic/unlikeable, because her existence revolves around shallow soap operas.

Of course author intent doesn't always translate to the finished product, and he did spend much more time on what happens when print is stifled vs what happens when TV flourishes. That's why the general understanding of the novel is "don't ban books."

Regardless, Ray's probably rolling in his grave over this.
