I would say yes. In one of their most famous songs, Get Back, they denegrate a transwoman for no reason and basically tell her to go back to who she was. Here are the lyrics.

Sweet Loretta Martin thought she was a woman
But she was another man
All the girls around her say she's got it coming
But she gets it while she can

Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back Loretta!

Tansphobia's not a real thing.

Not as progressive as Aerosmith's "Dude looks like a lady."

Isn't that just a joke about all the rockers of the time having long hair, Steven Tyler included?

Didn't they do different versions of it to protest popular beliefs they didn't like, like racism and anti-immigration stuff?

Or is that just Beatle mythology I picked up somewhere or imagined?

calling out The Beatles for transphobia is a bit like calling out Al Jolson for using blackface, or, to take the analogy even further, Shakespeare, for using so few female characters.

The Beatles broke up almost 50 years ago, and even then, it's not like they were claiming to be bastions of progressive ideals.

I'm not sure if people think they're discovering something new and exciting that no one's thought of before - wow, a band was transphobic in the 60s, what a surprise

it's a much better use of time to examine contemporary media that claims to be progressive, and think about whether or not it actually is.

It was inspired by Motley Crue. Namely Vince Neil.

The song clearly isn't about someone who is transgender so why would it be transphobic?

Oddly enough, the Beatles and 'Get Back' were my first introduction to transgenders.

When they said Jojo thought he was a loner, I thought that they said woman.
