Most bands' second or third album is their best. It's the early albums where their inspiration is still there but they've just gotten into their groove.

I think most of the time a bands second album is the best. It refines elements of the first while adding a bit of new flair. Usually the 3rd is the worst when they completely change their style.

nah, 20 somethings have way more angst and emotions and shit to turn into music. That's why the early stuff is always better. They run out of ideas by the 4th album, or all are middle aged and have families and nothing interesting to write about.
