At an airport.

Businesses actively advertise it. I'm eating at a breakfast place, with my old man tea and oatmeal and people are pounding back bloody mary's and gin & tonics.

I know it's been a long time since I drank, but even when I borderline had a problem, I couldn't imagine drinking first thing in the morning.

Don't think too much about it at an airport. Considering your location at the time, the current time of day is irrelevant since people are coming from different time-zones. What could be the first thing in the morning for you could technically be afternoon, evening, or last thing at night for another. Then you may have people with different body clocks (such as those just finishing a night shift and what have you).

I guess I'm a bit of an exception as I get ridiculous motion sickness on some flights, so last thing I want before or after is alcohol, regardless of time zones. On the bright side, since the flight I'm about to get on is 14 hours long, I can just take all kinds of meds and sleep most of it away.

Not a big drinker, but I wake n bake every time I fly. Airports cause anxiety. Between the people, security, the flight itself.... I think it's perfectly fine to do whatever helps.

Cool. Next time Im going to do 3 fat lines of coke and run through the airport naked while singing the national anthem of China.

At least that would provide entertainment. Rather than being stuck in security behind an old person who just can't comprehend the rules.

Thank Christ I have NEXUS/Global Entry/TSA Precheck to help alleviate the headache at least a little.

Because you're at an airport. Every time I have to fly somewhere and put up with the usual bullshit that airlines and airports foist upon you, I find myself consumed by an urge to get blackout drunk and I don't even drink.

Yeah I dunno why people want to get sloshed, but I see nothing wrong with getting a drink or two to help with nerves, pass the time, help you forget that you're at an airport, etc.
