The problem with that quote is that the entire conclusion is "the countries are black, therefore Trump is racist." It completely dodges his whole point which is "what is in it for us?"

Again: The quote shows that Trump is a sociopath, NOT a racist. It has nothing to do with the fact that the people are black and everything to do with the fact that they're coming from a country that has more to benefit from us than we do from them. He praised Norway because they just bought a pile of fighter jets and their people on average are well off. Trump wants the rich, the famous, and the highly educated to move to America, and he doesn't see the benefit of taking in anyone else.

We don't need to spend nearly as much money as we do on our military, this is a fact. And even if we were to be the UN's "muscle", which we aren't, we'd still be able to cut our defense costs by billions of dollars.

And actually the UN doesn't need the US, and the US doesn't need the UN. But we both benefit from each other, which is why were still working together. The UN is an organization that brings all of the countries in the world together to try and fix as many problems as we can and avoid wars whenever possible. The average applicant is irrelevant. I'm explaining to you why you and Trump are wrong about not wanting to take anyone from so called shithole countries. In context: Why would I accept people from lower-class place A? Place B is so much better.

The issue isn't necessarilly that the countries are bad or what he called them (imo), but saying it in a manner that implies people from place A have priority over people from place B because of where they live. When you group people from a place together for examples like this to say that people from one place have priority over people from a different place, it can be interpreted as racist (preference for people based on nation/country, specifically).

At least, that's what I understand from this. He might not have even said it.

It's wrong to say that any country should be given preference over another. Even if we go the conservative rout and completely abandon the notion of helping those who need it most and instead switch to a completely self serving immigration policy, it should absolutely be merit based and where you come from is completely irrelevant in a merit based system.

As for the alleged racism of the statement, you have to look at the context the word was used in. He wasn't just saying that there are shithole countries, because obviously there are, but he was arguing that we shouldn't accept any immigrants from those countries as if to blame the state of those countries on the people who live there which means his insult wasn't directed just at the country as a whole, but at the residents of that country as well. Now that's obviously a fucked up thing to say and shows incredible ignorance while also proving Trump's detractors right that he isn't fit to serve as president, but idk if you can definitively claim its racist. Tho it doesn't help that he was referring to mainly African countries and that he held up Norway (one of the whitest countries ever, literally an Aryan supremacists wet dream) as a preferred alternative.

However, as someone who's parents are immigrants from one of those "shithole countries", it is pretty insulting when the president says that he doesn't want people from those places, and would rather have guys coming in from already good/great countries like Norway. America was literally built from people coming in from "shitholes" trying to make their lives better, so Trump denouncing all of that and thinking that he "assumes some of them are good people" is pretty tasteless.

You can keep trying to promote the UN, but a lot of people will not buy into it. That doesnt mean they havent read or seen what the UN is about. You guys are not the only people with internet access. We see that organization as largely incompetent, or at least when it really counts. They dont do shit when genocide is happening around the world, for example, and they are largely anti-US, despite the US pumping in the majority of their financial and manpower support. I totally understand why some of these smaller countries cling to the UN, but they are not the end-all be-all for super powers, even if the UNs original vision said otherwise.
