It was too close to home for me to be cute and endearing, but I do agree with Kawakami as whole. Taking aside the whole fetishism of her character, her character itself and her events are still nice

Plus as was touched on a bit earlier, because of how she lived for so long and her just general mental state even afterwards... I mean she's struggling to just handle random interactions with strangers that last a few seconds. She's overwhelmed with feelings from social experiences and not even fully understanding them all. It seems like a massive example of taking advantage to exploit her trust and reliance on you to be like "this is love, let's be a couple" - you are to an extent caring for her. Like she relies on you, you're helping her integrate and function in the world, and that is a pretty big imbalance in the relationship right there, plus she's just straight up not really ready for that kind of thing.

At one point I recall Sojiro even commenting on it, and asking you to not seek romance with her. Which kinda surprised me that the game would actually do that.
