http://dw.com/en/japans-nationalist-school-books-teach-a-different-view-of-history/a-40092325
Hiromichi Moteki, the group's acting chairman and a former history teacher, claims the text books are "free from a biased view of history" that is being aggressively pushed by Japan's neighbors, primarily China and both North and South Korea. "After Japan annexed the Korean Peninsula [in 1910], we spent a lot of money on infrastructure and education there to raise the living standard of people there to that of Japan," said Moteki. "Japan spent so much money that you could say it was the Koreans that exploited us." --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

What surprises me is that Moteki, according to the article, was a history teacher. He should know better. Instead, his quotes sound like they come from someone who has not studied history, has not looked at the mountain of evidence refuting his views and has not listened to the interviews of both civilian survivors and veterans.
Anyway, I'd be shocked if Germany could do the same with their school material. It's illegal to deny the Holocaust happened, for example. --- ... ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah I doubt it happens in Germany. Isn't it the case that doing a Nazi salute in public can get you thrown in jail or something?

Lol, classy.
WWII in Europe can easily be blamed on the Treaty of Versailles, though it's more a reason than a valid excuse. Britain and France fearful of losing their dominance was bad for tons of people, and eventually somebody was able to fight back. The problem was all the butthurt they caused led to Hitler... Japan doesn't really have that kind of justification. They were warmongers and on the winning side of WWI. There was no "revenge cassis belli" due to being raked over the coals for a fight you didn't actually start. --- "message parlor" ? do you mean the post office ? - SlayerX888 ... Copied to Clipboard!
