Welcome everyone to the BEST SIMPSON'S EPISODE EVER TOURNAMENT! PRESENTED BY CURRENT EVENTS!

As the first topic in this idea I've had for awhile, here is the basic groundwork.

INTRODUCTION

I looked at the Top 24 episodes of Simpsons ever, as based on user star ratings on IMDB. The list is from 2015, but I doubt anything in 2015 and beyond would belong on this list. This list has a nice little two sentence explanation of the episode if you do not have episode names memorized. In each topic I will also explain each episode that we are voting on.

Using Challong, I've created a tournament involving the Top 24 episodes of all time!

The 1-8 seeds have a bye in the first round, since that seems appropriate. Every day (or maybe twice a day depending on how 1-sided a vote gets) we will put up a new poll and see which episode out of the two is considered better. Winner moves on, loser is dropped. There will be a third place vote as well.

The last vote went from being basically 50/50 to having one ahead by like 11 in like a 4 minute span.

None of the previous polls ever had that kind of quick response in such a short period of time. It was literally 50/50 before that so I have no idea.

Who was in the lead right at the end then? And shit happens. This one is pretty much 50/50 as well so will you do a re do if this one gets a winner at the last second in a similar way?

I didn't do a redo of that one. This was a redo as I found I could switch the polling to only allow registered users 1 vote per IP. I wasn't doing that before.

Regardless of how it happened, We had a winner from the last vote and they moved on.

This one as a second attempt was literally 10 minutes after the initial topic to implement the one vote per IP

okay Scorpio is a memorable character and a memorable Al Brooks performance but other than that? episode is mostly silliness with little of the simpsons charm and cleverness, as was starting to become standard in season 8. be a shame to see it win this whole thing.

Cape Feare is a true classic

As much as I like Hank Scorpio, Sideshow Bob is just better.

When you realize most of the Scorpio lines are ad-lib it brings a new sense of respect for the performances.

yep again, memorable A.Brooks performance. but a great A.Brooks performance doesn't make the GOAT simpsons episode. i just rewatched both. there's almost nothing else to it.
