If you got an HR department, hit them up before you leave with some of the evidence that he's a Richard. If not for you but for whoever comes after

Yeah there are jobs that won't treat you like shit. The key piece you're forgetting is (spoilers) job hunting is difficult. And quitting shit jobs without notice and disrespecting your bosses will just make finding that next job harder. Everyone has to deal with assholes. Welcome to life.

Imagine writing off TC admitting the job making him feel suicidal as just dealing with assholes and something everyone does. I'd think someone like you would have at least a little bit of sympathy.

I was responding to Offworlder1, fool

Then perhaps you should learn how to quote people or make sure your post is directly after theirs, kid.

Or maybe you could just stop being a jackass. That'd probably be a better option

I hope the TC does take this to HR before he leaves, no reason not to completely fuck over the asshole making his work life so miserable.

TC, I agree that your boss's behavior is really the straw. Do you have an HR department/compliance officer? Or a boss above your boss?

No, there is no HR. There is the office manager, but she's basically the boss' assistant.

As I mentioned, he also has been told about his behavior before and told them to fuck off.

Things are never going to get better in that place unless somebody does something to get that guy fired, and sadly a lot places aren't willing to fire someone in a management position unless their hand has been forced. The truth is, most companies care far more about their bottom line than their employees, and from the way you've described him, it sounds like he badgers his employees into doing more for less which is exactly what lots of boards of directors sitting in offices like.

Go sign up for a temp agency or 5, at least one of them will find something for you.

Normally I'd agree, but this is technically a 'start up', they have no board of directors. The boss has final say in literally everything. Again, you've got to pick your battles. I'm not sure me confronting him would have served any purpose. I get where you are coming from, though.

i left my job recently because of similar reasons. got promoted and things were expected from me that i was never told about or trained on. didn't get an increase in pay despite it being promised, and they just kept pissing me off: took away my computer, took away my desk, kept having me do random things and get mad when random thing #1 wasn't a priority over random thing # 5.

i quit giving 1 week notice (ie i quit at the beginning of the winter break) and im happier now.

no i dont have another job lined up, but being at that job was killing me and when i got home i didn't have energy to look for one. luckily i have some money saved up so i can survive for a while but now i have time to look for a better job.

this time ill follow my heart, and not my wallet. im willing to make sacrifices if i can be happy at the end of the day. i think its a great and sad fallacy that you're supposed to suffer though adulthood. people like that are going to die miserable not having lived their life.

Sounds like we were in pretty much the same situation. I'm glad you made it out, too, friend.

I honestly have mixed feelings right now, but it's mostly just from whether or not I'll get any sort of response from them from my email when I'm not there tomorrow. Normally I'd deliver my resignation in person, but after the way, I saw my boss go berserk at the drop of a hat, I figured it was probably better to just do it this way.

Now that I think about it, though, I didn't particularly feel good about what we did there. There were frequently times when I'd overhear my boss telling my manager to do something 'without a paper trail'. We had standard procedures to clone posts with different version depending on who was reviewing them. It was all very ... sketchy.

Not going to read the whole thread, but I hope you dont quit. Milk every penny from them and do the job at your own pace. And maybe start getting into crypcurrency a little.

Im not a financial advisor, do your research and come to your conclusions.

Honesty, if you're incredibly unhappy, and stressed to a point where it's taking a toll on you, it'd probably do yourself good to quit. It is hard to just walk out without any notice. You'll be conflicted at first, but if the job is as bad as you're describing, go for it.

Do be aware, you will get a call from someone asking where the hell you are. Not a fun conversation.

I sent my manager and emailed a letter of resignation, so I can't imagine they'd have any reason to call me. At least I hope not.

No, they are both straight women, as far as I know. I think you meant the boss and his assistant, in which case, doubtful. I'm 90% certain he cheats on his wife, but they actually seem to have a professional relationship.

Sounds like you made the best move.

Also, depending on where you live they may not even contact your previous employer. Like here in Maryland, legally all they can ask is if you did in fact work there and if you left willingly or were terminated. They can't ask why you left or why you were fired, if they would re-hire you, if there were every any disciplinary actions against you, etc.
