Think about it. Why do people work hard, get educations, go through rounds of interviews to land jobs, work to get promoted etc etc?

This idea is pretty old. Early Kierkegaard says something pretty similar in Either/or. Idleness (as opposed to boredom, which is the root of evil) is the state all mankind strives to maintain.

I think it's more that we want to get to a situation where people don't *need* to work to have a decent life.

I'm not sure we'd want to get rid of work completely, but just change what it means to work along those lines. I.e. we would no longer perform drudgery like cleaning or creating widgets on the factory floor, but do something creative like writing, art, inventing, entrepreneurship, etc., or just learn. All our needs would be catered for, but we'd still have the option to do something (more) fulfilling.

Its horrible being unable to help provide for yourself and your family

Probably. For a time anyway. I think there'd come a point where I'd get tired of that though. Plus, it'd be a sad, lonely existence.

We probably all have other shit we enjoy, like music. I like programming, for example. I wouldn't necessarily need to do anything massively useful with it, but just give myself something else to do from time to time.

NEET comes close, but the best position is still being self-employeed

God-tier: Self-Employeed
This is the highest tier of enlightenment. Earning new connections and money from your own interests and hardwork is the greatest satisfaction that one strives. You make your own rules and schedule and work at your pace without anyone telling you otherwise. The profit you earn can be invested into being a permanent rich NEET.

High-tier: NEET
The best position for anyone who doesn't have the need to strive any higher. Imagine being paid for literally doing nothing and spending the taxes of wagecucks to pay for your leisure expenses. What's unique about this tier is that time is greatly open to honing his own personal hobbies and skills at a greater pace. NEETs can earn additional money from day trading cryptocurrency. At the end of the day, the NEET relishes on not being a wagecuck and getting ahead in his personal interests.

Low-tier: Student
The trap that wagecuck adults tell to their own children. This is actually a ploy by bankers to prepare children into being wagecucks. The knowledge and skills learned at school are already accessible on the internet. Much time, stress, and money is wasted here for a piece of paper with no practical experience.

Trash-tier: Wagecuck
This is the modern-day equivalant of slavery. Imagine needing to wakeup everyday at 6am, being tired, eating a factory-prepared mushy meal of empty-calories, being stuck in traffic, getting scolded by your boss, working for tasks that doesn't get recognized, and coming home to your aggro wife and kids. The wagecuck falsely believes that he did the right and honest thing but deep inside, his soul is dying. Dreams are crushed here.
