It's better for shooting but worse for commands

Wonder what RE4 would be like x_x

Any games you've done on console and PC differently? I've beaten this a few times on console

I think RE5 had dodge QTEs that required hitting X and C as well as F and V which is just awkward as hell to do.

More or less the same for RE4. The mouse aiming wasn't too bad as I recall from my brief attempt, but a controller just feels better. Plus I spent all that time on GC/PS2 gitting gud at correcting Leon's awful stationary aim.

I've just gotten used to them. The tradeoff for less precise movement for higher aiming and camera precision is worth it to me, though that's not going to be the same for everyone. I used to play PS2 shooters before starting PC gaming and I haven't been able to go back to shooters with a controller at all.

I prefer action games like DMC4 on controller; the angle of movement is just way more important and fixed camera in a lot of areas negates the mouse benefits.

I know the control can be better for some genres. I just find it so uncomfortable compared to a controller

Maybe you were asking a hypothetical and I just didn't get it. There's not really any answer other than "preference", like how for some people a DS4 fits better in their hands and feels more familiar and for others, it's an X1 controller.

This is my first real gaming PC so I'm trying new things
Part of me wants to plug in a controller, but I've already beaten the game that way

This. I've always hated trying to figure out which random ass key does what. Other than for aiming in first person, it's completely counter-intuitive to me.

It's not really random any more than console controller assignments

Also for shooters at least there's the benefit of not having to completely stop aiming while you hit the reload/jump/crouch whatever button

As far as shooters go, you'll have:
WASD for movement
R for reload
C for crouching
Spacebar for jump
Number keys typically for weapon swapping
Tab brings up a score or stat screen

Because many games are multiplatform nowadays, they're often designed with context-sensitive keys/buttons, so for most other things that involve interacting with objects, it's either the E or the F key. These have basically become industry standard, similar to how one of the trigger buttons on a DS4 or X1 controller will shoot, Square/X will be a reload button, and the right analog stick controls camera movement. If these still aren't in comfortable locations, the vast majority of PC games and ports will allow you to rebind them to practically any other key you want.

But yes, if you haven't played any games on a PC, it might take some learning, though not much more than playing on any new console. I still get confused on where the X and Y buttons are on the Joycons and I've been playing on a Switch for like half a year now.

The one problem I'm having is making sharp turns and then turning my entire body around (in RE5). I always panic and mess up
