never. pretty much only order the same thing at the cheesesteak place I go to and the new guy that works the register is just now starting to remember my name after like 6 months of him working there.

once they start to remember my name I feel I need to make a decision: become a regular and get to know them or never come again.

Depends on how often. If you go every day or every week, it should be pretty quick. If it's a once a month kinda thing or less often, no expectation of them remembering

I intentionally start ordering new/different things when places I regular start to predict my order. Not to be a dick... it's just a nice forcing function for making me try new things.

Well yeah, it's assumed that you go at least once a week.

If you go once a week, a good employee will remember you and your order after 3 visits.

Depends. Do you have the same server each time?

Where are you going that rotates workers that often?

Never. I don't go to the same resturants very often, and I often get different things when I do go to them.

Ugh I hate regulars. Admittedly i work an overnight shift in a gas station but i still have regulars and they're weird night customers and they want to be my friend. Fuck off i have friends already leave me alone.

Dont expect anybody to remember my order but I kinda expect people to just recognize my face after a few times.

It's funny how that cuts both ways. As someone who doesn't cook much, I order from a few spots, especially ones that I know I get a healthy dinner and not too expensive. I actually don't like it when the workers get too familiar or w/e. Not at all out of rudeness, they work hard and want to just be friendly. But I just wanna get my food and leave. I feel awkward having to be "on" and chatty when I'm try to just pick up my order.

Same here, thats why I always order to go. I just want to eat, I don't want to have a conversation.

I mean Im just saying sometimes they have different workers for different days even on the same shift. Or youll get sat in different sections.

Though the bar I went to every Sunday with some buddies had a awesome bartender who remembered what I ordered (food wise) after like the 2nd or 3rd time.
