I thought the movie was terrible. Im on my phone so Ill try and keep my complaints short.

Biggest one has to be how Disney-fied it felt. Constant 4th wall breaking one liners and quips that only served to break tension, characters constantly spouting platitudes, ham fisted moral messages (I.e. on the casino planet), etc. felt like the movie was made in a boardroom, no passion at all.

Half the movie felt unnecessary; as others have said, finns whole storyline was unsatisfying and pointless, and Rose was a terrible character whose romance felt so forced. Characters die before they are developed, things sort of happen because its cool and dramatic, not because its sensical (the kamikaze thing comes to mind, or how the bomber drops actual physical bombs in space ), etc.

Then you had some terrible dialogue as well; the speech by Snoke before Kylo Ren kills him was some of the worst writing Ive ever seen in a movie and would not feel out of place in The Room or something.

Finally the movie continues to not deliver on the elements of Star Wars that draw in so many fans like myself. Theres barely any semblance of a universe. Just another tired battle of the empire vs rebels, no real scale of the universe, no prominent alien characters, etc. the new Star Wars is really scared to be actual sci fi / fantasy or challenge the audience, probably because this is explicitly for merchandising now
